Auction - Overtime!

Overtime 1 - Ended
Overtime 2 - Ended
Overtime 3 - Ended
Overtime 4 - Ended
Overtime 5 - Ended
Overtime 6 - Ended

We're in Auction (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,22879.0.html) Overtime Now.

The Timers above show the overtime rounds occuring and when they will end.
Overtime 5 had an active bid so we will go into an Overtime 6.

Generals please bid using the following template:
Code: [Select]
6 cardsTips:
- You always have to raise 1 more than the last General (unless the bid was 24 cards) This is increased by 1 each overtime.
1st Overtime min raise is 2
2nd Overtime min raise is 3
3rd Overtime min raise is 4
4th Overtime min raise is 5
5th Overtime min raise is 6
6th Overtime min raise is 7

- 24 cards is the maximum bid

- Opening bids are now 1, 3 and 12, This is increased by 1 each Overtime.
 1st Overtime opening bids are 2, 4, and 13
 2nd Overtime opening bids are 3, 5, and 14
 3rd Overtime opening bids are 4, 6, and 15

- You can bid on a maximum of 21 players (so choose those 21 wisely, instead of spamming bids)

- always post a new bid post (never edit your previous post)

- If you see a suspect bid, report to moderator or post here.

- In the case of a bid action being made that is not of a sufficient raise, the bid value will be adjusted to the appropriate minimum bid.

Rest of the details can be found in War Rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13006.0.html).

Yellow means you are a candidate for a team
Green means you are tied for the last spot or a tentative spot and might get cut.
Blue is redundant bids because the team already has enough candidates.

Wait, how many overtimes are there going to be? Infinite?
Why? Because one person made a bid, it means that everyone else suddenly wants to make more and we have to extend it by one day?

Looks like that's the way it works.

I personally would prefer that after the Main Auction ends, every thread without any bid for the last 24 hours was closed. I mean, not closed like "thread closed" but like "no more bidding here"...

Don't be so impatient, the auction will end sooner or later. Overtime is to avoid "ninjas" that bid in the last seconds before the end of auction for an easy win.

it won't be infinite... that's why the minimum bid raise.
The current method helps players to be sold closer to their actual value.

The current method helps players to be sold closer to their actual value.
Actually, letting the generals bid on as many players as they want would lead to sell players to their actual value, but it would be bad for other reasons.

I still suggest this:
I personally would prefer that after the Main Auction ends, every thread without any bid for the last 24 hours was closed. I mean, not closed like "thread closed" but like "no more bidding here"...
*is there an "Auction Feedback" thread? if there is one, I'll edit/delete this post and do it again there.

Actually, that's a great idea.

And no, just because you bid on someone, doesn't mean you have to take them, which means you can effectively extend the auction to as many spare bids you have left. And that seems like a good strategy anyways, just bidding on other people just to drive their price higher up.
Although I hope no one's such a douche that they'd actually would want to do that. (extending the auction, I mean)  >:D

Good day friends,

I'd first like to say excellent work on that google spread sheet Kael looks awesome.

I'd like to understand "overtime" a bit more.

At this current time [19/3/11], I'm going to use :aether as the example.

This table shows what I see on google spreadsheet highlighted in yellow.
Player"current" bid on [19/3/11]
willing312
pikachufan216412
YoungSot4
EvaRia3
deuce222
(...)1
EngPhys1
Stickmasterluke1
UTAlan1
Only 7 can be chosen out of this list of 9.

Question 1: The overtime is to "break ties" at the lower bid levels or this still active for all players(disregarding 24 bids of course)? For the given example, (...),EngPhys, Stickmasterlke, and UTAlan are waiting for more bids?

Question 2: Let's take the scenario that all the masters formed a pact to stop bidding.
I understand the last 4 on the list would then be selected by Higurashi?

Question 3: From seeing another "overtime 4" displayed on the first page does that mean there can be "infinite"? amount of overtime bids? Or is there usually a set limit? (in other words what triggers the "stopping point" to which masters cannot bid and selections for tied bids begins?)

*Addendum question (from reading Acsabii44's post): So, basically we're waiting for tie breakers to end? (not infinite) But lets say we go to .. oh .. two more days. (just say), the bidding is about.. say .. 12 cards raise, no master is willing to bid anymore; and the current tie breakers are still out... in that situation does overtime continue until we reach (24 bids?)
I don't understand this at all, so I'll answer the ones I do:

1.The point of over time is to stop ninja bids, and give more time to bid, but at a cost of having to bid more each successive round. There are no ties in the bidding process, I have no idea what you mean. Each general must bid higher than the previous.

2. The people go to the highest bidder. If Higurashi is the highest, then yes she/he (sorry) can take them.

3. There are an infinite amount of Overtime rounds, as long as there is one bid during the time frame.

Addendum: No idea what you mean. There are no ties.
