Phase 3 - Community Vote

Phase ends when above poll expires.

It's time to vote for your favorite Master candidate!  Every community member has one vote. You can change your vote at any time as long as there is still time on the clock.

Vote based on who you think would make the best Master of that element. Do not vote based on who is the best player or who you know personally. Try to pick someone who you think would help the community the most.  Feel free to ask the candidates difficult questions to help you make your decision.

You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

To tree and dopha :
Calindu has won Master's Tourney, proven his worth in war and been in entropy for a while. What do you feel you could add to the table that he can't?

To Calindu :
If you could materialise one aspect of entropy as a power in real life, which one would it be, why, and how would you use it?
The madness is in each of us. Close your eyes, sing, and open your webbed wings to the silent winds.

I'm not very good at this selling yourself malarky but here goes firstly the easy bit.

Spoiler for about me:
Who am I: I am treebeard xiii, I have been playing elements for at least three years now but I only got involved with the community round the middle of last year. As anyone who does know me knows I am a passionate deckbuilder and will stick to my ideals concerning deckbuilding till the end of time, the deck must function reasonably well usually bout 50% success against it's chosen opponent but first and formost must be enjoyable to play with, I'll admit that approach may have held me back in pvp but I will still stick with it even my more agressive approach of late still holds remnants of the fun aspect. Next why entropy to which I reply why not entropy it has everything you could possibly want out of a deck available to it whether it be cc, pc, damage, fun, troll capabilities, but above all else its randomness is unrivalled which is key to a fun deck it also has an edge as it brings a bit of unpredictabilty to the table that is truly why I choose entropy.

Enough about me you want to know anything more I can be found in main chat or you could always just ask them here, onto the questions

Spoiler for why pick me for master:
Why I feel I would make a better master than Calindu: To answer that I first have to answer this what do I feel are desirable traits in a master. To me a mastership is not just about your prowess in pvp, nor the experience you have, it is about a whole host of attributes.

I will only list a few here the ones I feel are the most important:
  • Firstly it is about the knowledge you possess about the element in question not just the all round synergies nor the mono dominance but the niche synergies as well ones that will work against one type of deck but fail more often than not against most other types'
  • Secondly activity is key whats the use of a master who you can't find to ask questions or isn't around to lead his element where needed like war.
  • As a master you also need to be approachable people needn't be afraid of coming up to talk to you about almost anything within reason
  • Also as a master you need to be able to adapt and change to the ever changing meta and be reasonably adept at handling all elements not just your favourite
  • Finally being a master some people may believe demands respect but in fact you need to earn that respect yes becoming master is a step in the right direction, you have to be able to be respected and be able to respect other people

The covers most bases now to answer the question why would I be the best master. What I should be able to say is I am easily be a best master for Entropy because I know the element best, I am the most active, I am the most adaptable etc. but in all honesty I don't believe I would make the best master that would have to be Calindu I'm quite sure he's a very good master better than than me at this moment in time, but what I can say is I'm improving as it stands the only thing I might be better at than anyone else is being able to experiment with the element I have therefore founds niche decks with entropy that others have not, I am more flexible when it comes to my activity, I can respect others just as well as people can choose to respect me. Sounds great right but there are some areas I am sorely weak in namely pvp I enjoy but my proficiency is neglible may best result in any form of competitive pvp is a fourth in a weekly tournament. When it comes to war I have no experience whatsoever and leadership most certainy is not my forte but i can promise to give it my all and hope for the best.

Spoiler for Oni's questions:
If I became master would I lead my team in war: Simple answer yes I would lead my team in war. How I feel I would do I can't answer this right now as it would be a new experience all I can say is I would give it my all and with the backing of my team would take us as far as possible.
Would I lead my team in brawl: Simple answer no. Why because my all round talents are limited I can only really deckbuild and might be able to scrape the odd card idea without art so no I would not lead my team in brawl however with a few minor changes I would still participate as a dekbuilder again.

Spoiler for shrink's question:
What is your favourite deck using you element and what makes it special to you: Well what can I say there are at least three decks that I like the most but if I was to pick an all out favourite there can be only one my pride and joy the CCosebow, why this is so special to me it was the first deck i built where every single card in the deck was chosen by me to fucntion how I desired it to. I know you only asked for one shrink but I'm gonna give you two more my second favourite Entropy deck would be the aptly named WTF a combination of my favourite card Sose and my favourite strategy Twin Mutants with a few Eggs thrown in for luck and that is why it is special to me. The third deck I will give is a deck I have loved since the very beginning of my time playing elements and that is growth both upped and pillarless and unupped, why is it so special to me it was truly the first deck I ever planned to build after exploring the cards available to me at the time I deemed this to be fun and the most effective deck for the time and even today it holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of a better time when Pulvy was the pc of choice before the hellspawn that is Sofo came into existence.

The first deck I invested heavily in therefore securing it's place in my heart it never failed me for a long time.

Spoiler for Pella's question:
How do I plan to coordinate my war team across the world: Quite easily actually my activity on the game spans a reasonable time across most timezones, I would also set up private chat and share deck ideas across the team with a voting system of sorts getting the opinion of all my team concerning which decks would be best used against which element

Spoiler for Chapuz's questions:
Out of all of my opponents in trials who do I feel would make the worst master: For a start I am disappointed that anyone would want to instill hate for one another no matter how entertaining it may be, so I will choose not to answer this as I feel Calindu has already earned the right to be master before and if either me or Dopha manage to claim the title then we deserved it we could all potentially make a good master even if we wouldn't right now we would with time develop the knowledge necessary in the future.

Spoiler for Opsinis' question:
Would you prefer a master who was better versed in the forum of the game:For this I am under the impression if you have won a battle or more to achieve the mastership you have already proved you are versed in the game so I would prefer someone well versed in the forum because this would prove you are a well rounded individual.

Spoiler for belligerence's question:
If my first choice element was full would I change to another if so what element:No I would rather bow out of this trials and try again next time. Why? I would bow out because
A. I am nowhere near as confident with the other elements
B. I am sorely lacking in upps for the other elements therefore restricting my deckbuilding options
C. If I can't trial for Entropy I'm not interested in trialing at all
However, if I had two pick another element it would either be Time or Water
Why?
Time:
A. It is my second favourite element
B. It synergises well with other elements and mulitiple different forms
Water:
A. The main reason is I love the fact it is perhaps the most synergistic element, it is able to synergise with nearly every element without difficulty
B. The honest to goodness monobow there is no other element that can run a true monobow
C. The super fun and unpredictable Nymph Tears I love experimenting with Nymph decks using Tears.

That's the question thread answered now onto entropy specific questions.

Spoiler for Jenkar's question:
With Calindu having proved his worth as master what else can i bring to the table: That is in fact a very good question Jenkar Calindu has indeed proved himself as master and done a mighty fine job of it I won't lie it is going to be hard to outdo Cal but I will try my best if I get mastership. How I would do this? Firstly concerning time in entropy I have used it perhaps for as long as Cal maybe longer I may hav only recently joined the forums but the game is not as new to me as that leads people to believe. For my first month I used earth and life and the first deck i truly built for myself was a growth deck back when it was widely unknown but after half a year  finally started working with entropy in the form of SNbows and Mutabows which a bit of time after that expanded to the rest of Entropy so now I know Entropy the best by a long shot, enough of that onto answering the actual question. Not fully knowing how Cal lead his team in war I can say I would not be afraid to take a loss for my team in war if it meant the rest of the team could succeed, the deck I would use would be picked after everyne else playing in that round had their deck sorted out unless it was insisted I took a deck first. The decks used in war would be a combined effort from the whole team as would vault building, my war team would be a single engine with all the parts playing a role in it successfully functioning. Now moving on from war as entropy master I would be perfectly happy for people to bounce questions about the element off me I wouldn' say this is the best entropy deck use this i would say give me the deck you want to use and I will help you improve on it, I have experimented with niche decks so can advise people on the less wider known synergies of the element I may be lacking in forum expertise but I would be capable of learning and improving this is the same for my pvp prowess which is not the best atm. In all honestly the only thing I can definitely bring to the table is a more creative approach to Entropy deckbuilding but I will be able to bring more after a bit more experience.

Spoiler for Odii's question:
Do you feel you would be able to lead Entropy to victory in war as master:I will say straight away not alone I won't. As it would be my first war I do not know the finer details about war but with the backing of my great team we could most certainly give pesky aether a run for it's money. How would I do this you may ask to which I would answer in many different ways firstly by knowing the counters for the common decks of each element so that is at least twelve decks help from my team would be appreciated, next I would find a set of each potential opponent's competitive decks of choice to try a spot an obvious pattern in their decks as at one time or other they will resort to their comfort zone even if it will obviously struggle against their opponent because most of us if not all of us will retreat to our comfort zone when backed into a corner so I need to be ready to pounce when the person is at their most vulnerable with a counter, another area I would benefit from the aid of my team. Thirdly I would try and give everyone a deck they can use effectively that has best chance of beating their opponent even if it means taking a bullet for the team to give everyone else a better chance to win their respective matches. Every aspect of war for my team will be the best possible team effort so we know what everyone will be doig so there will be no nasty surprises like a team member using an unexpected deck which may upset our plans for the next round. So in short I feel I could give it a good shot with enough preparation and enough support from my team.

Spoiler for Op's question:
Evaluate Calindu's performance as master:I cannot exactly evaluate Cal's performance as master as I haven't followed him closely enough on forums, however what I can evaluate are Cal's attributes based on the experience of him I have had. Firstly he is a very talented individual pvpwise he has a hait of blaming a lot of losses on bad rng (but don't we all) but he is very good at both reading his opponents during a match as well as prior to the matches his 10 entro marks are proof enough of that but by playing him I have also realised he is hard to predict himself. His decks are domin when they need to be, stall when they need to be and a rush when they need to be and all are well balanced for their roles, however at times he can be rather arrogant, I still remember my first league where he put me down in every possible way that eventually I just snapped and got pissed of with him and said things that I shouldn't really have said. But overall he comes across as a decent person. Now the aspects of being a master I can see when it came to brawl damn was he a bad boss whether it was because the tasks were not in his favour or because he just wasn't really trying or even a combination of both I can't say. His performance in war however it was as if he was a completely different person I avidly followed last war and saw that he has both the breadth of knowledge as well as some depth of knowledge needed to lead his team to the best it could be had Entropy had a better couple of rounds at the beginning and towards the end Entropy would probably have at least come second maybe even won war so yes Cal is a great leader of the element but that isn't going to stop me trying to pry the title from his cold dead hands :P admittedly prior to the masters tourney and World Championship his performance if pvp was dwindling a little so that leads me to believe that he can be inconsistant at times.

That is all the questions so far the only ones I have missed are Burd's jokey one and Marsu's, this is because I do not know how to answer these questions so instead of failing  at them I shall choose not to answer.

Dopha: What is one of your biggest struggles on the forums?

tree: Evaluate Calindu's performance as Master of Entropy. What could be improved, reduced, changed, added, kept the same, etc...?

Who I am

I am Calindu, you can name me Cal and Calin too. I am a 16 years boy from Bacau, Romania, addicted by Elements(well, more by PvP in Elements, as that's why I still play). I am the current master of Entropy, and lead the team last War for a 3rd place.

Why would you vote to me

Because I am better Nope, this won't get me votes.
Because I am pro Nope, this neither.

Well, I don't really know why would you vote to me, maybe because I demonstrated last war what I can do.
Maybe this picture of my marks will say you something about what entropy means to me:

Questions and Answers

Spoiler for Questions topic:
Spoiler for Jenkar:
@all contestants : do you consider yourself the best possible master for your element? If so, why. If not, who is in your eye, and why?
Can't say I am the best possible master, there was room for better for sure, Zeru came closest to that I'd say.
(separate question) Name one song that represents your element in your eye.
Muse - Madness

Spoiler for Onizuka:
Do you plan to general your element for war?
Yes.
If nothing changes, do you plan to attempt to lead your element in brawl?
No, if nothing changes, if something changes, maybe.

Yes, classic DBH, I started using it a lot in my second CL, and quickly became my signature deck.

Spoiler for Pella:
Describe your plan for coordinating efforts among your War team across global time zones.
Simple, I pick people that I know I can work at least 1 hour a day with them.

Spoiler for Chapuz:
Which of your competitors deserves the Master title the least?
We can't know if we don't see them as masters.

Spoiler for Opsinis:
Would you rather have a master well-versed in the forum only or well-versed in Elements the Game only?

Well-versed in Elements the Game only, this is a card game, you have to be good with your element to be a master, you don't have to be a forum expert to do it.

Spoiler for justaburd:

Chirpity chirp!

Spoiler for Marsu:
How and where are you connected to the Element you are trialing for outside of Elements the Game?

Luck and random things count too?

Spoiler for Belligerence:
If your first choice element was full, would you switch to another element? If yes, what element and why. If no, why?

Yes, either Death or Air.

Spoiler for bogtro:
Design a card that is more or less balanced using typical balance formulae, yet would increase your element's power significantly. In other words, identify where your element is weak and design a card to remedy this.

Nope, this won't happen.
But I guess that Entropy needs either an attacking creature with bigger HP or a better mid-range creature.

Design a card that is more or less balanced using typical balance formulae, yet would increase your element's power significantly. In other words, identify where your element is weak and design a card to remedy this.
Entropy needs no change! It's already the best element we have :3
Spoiler for Belligerence:
@All Trialists/defending masters:

If your first choice element was full, would you switch to another element? If yes, what element and why. If no, why?
Yes, probably Death or Gravy, cause they go very well with entropy ^_^
Spoiler for Jenkar:
@all contestants : do you consider yourself the best possible master for your element? If so, why. If not, who is in your eye, and why?

(separate question) Name one song that represents your element in your eye.
Yes! I'm not saying that Calin is a bad master or something, but I've been playing for years with entropy. I used to be active on kong chat, asking for duels all day xD

I'll just link one song that i usually listen to while playing:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_9gchKsH9c
Spoiler for Marsu:
To all Trialists:

How and where are you connected to the Element you are trialing for outside of Elements the Game?
I think Entropy means randomness somehow, and that has to do with me... Things has always changed randomly when I didn't expect it. |:
Spoiler for justaburd:
Spoiler for Opsinis:
To all Trialists:

Would you rather have a master well-versed in the forum only or well-versed in Elements the Game only?
Explain.
In the game, deinitely. Imo what counts is the skills at pvp'ing and building decks, not how many posts you have or whatever.

Spoiler for Jenkar's question:
To tree and dopha :
Calindu has won Master's Tourney, proven his worth in war and been in entropy for a while. What do you feel you could add to the table that he can't?

Free beer?  ;D

Spoiler for Odii's question:
Dopha: Can you tell something about you and why do you like Entropy?

Tree: Do you think you can win War with Entropy as Master?

Calindu: How are you?

I'm fine, thanks... oh wait. Well I started playing in Jul. 30, 2010 and entropy was my starter element, didn't take long to find out it was the best element in game, also it was the first element that I got all cards.  ^~^

Spoiler for Op's question:

Dopha: What is one of your biggest struggles on the forums?

Probably when I decided to be a entropy master and I had under 200 posts... I posted on everything I saw :( I wasn't really active in the forums untill then
Worth it tho.

Spoiler for farscape's question:
To all  :entropy trialists:
In inter-molecular interactions, the binding free energy of a complex comes from two fundamentally different components. One of them is entropy, what is the other ?
That's a good question. Water.

To be fair, it doesn't seem to matter much as this isn't so much about having knowledge about the real aspects of the 'Element' as it is whether or not they are familiar with the Element in-game, if they show that they are active and may show some leadership skills for the upcoming War.

My questions may not have been strictly EtG realted, but Marsu also asked about RL connections with the element of choice so I thought I would ask some questions related to the real meaning of the element as well. Am I not allowed to vote based on how knowledgable the candidates are IRL ?

You may vote based on how you like a competitor's nose. (I certainly did)
