(note, score is presented as Implosion vs xdude; his score first)
Banned cards:
I did not do any mindgames when banning cards. I couldn't risk it with my huge upped cards disadvantage. Miracle, SoG and AM, because I wanted to cut off his stalling possibilities. DS, Gravity Shield, EQ, AM(again), because all those cards are effective counters to Light. If he couldn't use it, he'd had to go with newer, more innovative deck. However, I hoped he couldn't adjust those decks well enough in 5 days, in which he also had to grind for money. Seeing his decks, it looks I was right, since he didn't use the most basic duo card of all: the Pendulum!
FIRST GAME
Deck used:
5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5lf 5lh 5ls 718 718 718 718 718 718 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo
I counted on him to start with lots of PC. A fast rush would stop that. In case he would've also gone for CC I packed some Deadly Poison to kill him. 3 unstoppable damage per turn for 2 quanta seemed pretty good for me. However, his deck, packed with PC and CC was also faster then mine. He completely crushed me. I felt as if I had no chance to win the Trials. AT ALL.
1-0
SECOND GAME
Deck used:
4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5ls 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
I threw this deck at him, knowing that a lose here would get my chances to win very low. However, I was very happy when I saw I was facing an Entropy Mark. It was an uphill battle for him really, because, even if he still had the huge upped cards advantage, he couldn't use AM. We both plaid discord pretty fast and then the game turned into a Scramble War. He got up a mutant pretty fast yet I managed to get 8 Entropy quanta and AM it just in time. A few turns later and I would've been dead. Soon enough, I got my badass dragons beating him. Right after the turn he mutated his second creature I drew an AM, and it sealed the game for me. By this game, I knew it was gonna be tough to pull this out, but I kept my confidence
1-1
THIRD GAME
Deck used:
5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5lh 5ls 779 779 779 77l 77l 77l 77l 77l 77l 7jo 7jo 7jo
I didn't know what to expect this time, so I used a rush deck with good CC. He used RoL/Hope which completely crushed me. My CC was useless and so was my swarm of little creatures. Soon enough, he got his shield to past 10 counters, giving me virtually no possibility to win. I did the only thing to be done, and forfeited. I was already expecting the last game, when the score would be tied at 4-4.
2-1
FOURTH GAME
Deck used:
55p 55p 55p 55p 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5lh 5ls 74b 74b 74b 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
I was originally going to use my DS deck, but, in the last second I changed decks. Seems like it was the last choice. I managed to play all my cards pretty fast with a good draw, basically snatching him a win he deserved. His deck was better than mine, but not his draw (maybe more Pegasi would've helped), so I managed to get an undeserved win. I was still thinking about an epic final game, at 4-4.
2-2
FIFTH GAME
Deck used:
4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5ls 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
My favorite deck, in action yet again. Discord came out early, just the turn before he could've plaid steal. It locked him down, bringing me a landslide win. For the first time, I was leading the game. I was very happy at this point, and more confident than I ever was since the battle started.
2-3
SIXTH GAME
Deck used:
55p 55p 55p 55p 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5lh 5ls 74b 74b 74b 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
Another one of my stable decks, I felt it had a good change against most stuff he would throw at me. In the start, I felt like I could eat his RoL's fast enough, but I was wrong. He overwhelmed me, and the fact that I mistakenly canceled using my Oty's ability once, losing 1 quanta, didn't help. I told Imp that the next game would be vital. The loser would have to win 2 games in a row, a tough performance in such balanced games.
3-3
SEVENTH GAME
Deck used:
55p 55p 55p 55p 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5lh 5ls 74b 74b 74b 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
I felt like using this deck again. The fact that the only thing he could attack me with was his sword helped me survive, but it was a race against time. I feel like we both had good draws, but my deck was just better. I dropped Gravity Shield in a crucial moment. And I was able to sustain almost 50 damage per turn. Also, Imp was wrong on this one, he was actually 2 turns away from the win. I had 14 HP left, and I could've finished him in 2 turns. so he needed to draw first a BB and then a SS. It didn't happen (after all, the odds that he drew all the 3 SS's are pretty tiny) and I got a close, but, I felt, deserved win.
3-4
EIGHTH GAME
Deck used:
4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5la 5ls 7jo 7jo 7jo 7jo 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la 7la
Again, my best deck. And this time, it faced his best deck. I managed to discord him just 1 turn before he could play Fractal, bringing him to 19 HP. He fractaled RoL's getting this Hope to 4. I managed to deal him 16 damage with my 2 Dragons and Nymph, getting him to 3 HP. He fractaled again to get his hope to 9, but I had the quanta to drop a Dragon, and 3 Dragons eager to kill in hand. Fin.
