I asked mesa and he said in PM, that he would be willing to play a match with me, but he doesn't want to officially enter trials, because he will not have time for next war.

If Oni allows it, the following setup could work: mesaprotector plays me on the final phase 4 battle as defending master, and if he wins, he retains mastership, but delegates war general duties to someone he chooses.

People didn't sign up for light, then they shouldn't get the chance to get the light mastership.

mesa didn't sign up to defend, so he doesn't get the chance to defend.


I don't see what's wrong with Zso getting first crack at leading light in war and any other master led events instead of the title.

If the current Master doesn't want to defend and no other player wants to stake claim to it, I say Zso_Zso should be the new Master of Light as he has staked his claim and the only other contender removed theirs...

If Zso is so uncomfortable at the fact that being Master of Light without having to play the final battle, then just leave the position vacant. It's not like we haven't done that before.

But I think an exhibition match is absolutely doable. Since mesa agrees to play the match, it can be treated as a prove of worthiness. If Zso somehow lost, no one gets the title. In P3, it can be a vote of trust, as in many RL situations where there is only one candidate in a voting environment.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances of my Internet brig down for he next week, I am unable to conduct any more matches in the rest of phase 2. So my 3 other opponents (terroking, flippe, and rob) can claim their free wins in their favor.

I can understand why you think so, giving the chance to someone who is way overdue with the signup. But my personal opinion is another, because in this particular case Mesa do not fight to protect his title but to show Zso worthiness of the title. I also think that in situations like this we need to improvise even if it means we have to stretch the rules a bit.

I agree on the need to improvise.
Free title for Zso? Would feel wrong, and even for him, it'd not be the best option.
No chance for a title for him? Just as unfair.

I repeat my suggestion:

-3 volunteers (that don't have to have to do something with Light, I'd do it for example)
-These volunteers play Zso with normal phase 2 rules, all with Light as their Element
-Zso needs to win 2/3 BO5's to advance.

Oni, please give me a chance to fight for the title. There are lots of ideas to pick from:

• Allow other element trial participants to switch over (similarly to phase 1 rule about over-crowded element)
• Let me play against mesaprotector in phase 4 -- if he wins nobody has the master title
• Let me play against majofa in phase 4, who volunteered above
• Follow Marsu's suggestion to test me against multiple trial participant

I do not want to be an "acting" General without the title. I'd rather wait for the next trials for another chance if I fail to become a master this time.

If zso is the only person who wants to be light master/general, then I say give it to him. Sure it's anticlimactic, but it's better than having someone who doesn't care about the element be master/general.
