another option could be to ask if any challenger wishes to move to light for phase 3 to ensure a fight and not just give a title.  I'm sure there is a few who would accept that. Zso could have a great advantage in votes and gets a free wins in phase 2, it seems like an ok solution.  Also, it will prolly be someone who is already out of the race  otherwise after the phase 2 like drakexiv (sorry).

is withdrawing permitted? I could have been the 1st. I didn't realize how hectic my schedule for this month was until now. Anyway, I fulfilled my responsibility and fought 2 matched already and haven't quit just because I find joy providing some challenge tho i derp-ed in games...causing me to lose in some. It's just matches Marsu (no reply to PM) and annele (currently busy) that I am scared of. Scared that my schedule wouldn't allow me to play them

Why not just ask if anyone wants to trial for light? They got sign ups until the phase 2 has ended then Zso plays the first who has sign up with the phase 4 rules.

Yes, please find someone, or let somebody join to replace regen, we could even give the new candidate regen's existing points for the final, so its not totally hopeless with low number of ups. Or allow anybody who wants to switch from other crowded trials over to light. Somebody who is 3rd or 4th after phase 2, who could not hope to get their original mastery could switch and still have a chance against me.

It would be so lame if I get the title without a fight.

I personally don't think Zso should get the title, but should get first crack at things the Light master would be (current things are War Generaling and brawl iirc).


The closest thing to this case would be the two previous cases where the final battle didn't happen, I believe.

Sounds like the best solution to me. It's not fair to zso zso to remove his title with no option at all for him to take it. Someone find xdude or whatever x)

I agree with Oni that it wouldn't feel right to let Zso have the title for free, or by only playing pro forma.

Then again, it would be just unfair not to give Zso a chance to prove himself worthy of the title of Master of Light.

What about improvising a special challenge, like matches (With Light as main element, just as the normal challenger battles) against a few masters/challengers/other volunteers where he has to win 3/5 (random numbers) BO5's to gain the title?

I agree that getting the title without a final fight would be unfair to the other trial members and I would feel very bad getting a free title.

On the other hand, it feels an unfair punishment not to get a chance to fight for the title, just because both the current master and the only other challenger decided to drop out. I have played and won 3 games against time challengers, prepared my decks for the in-element battle that did not occur due to regen2k9 dropping out.

IMHO, the best solution would be to allow some challenger(s) from other element trials to switch to light at the end of phase 2, i.e. those who feel do not have a strong chance in their selected element and would be interested to try for light. Such switch was supposed to happen at the end of phase 1 if more than 4 people applied for the same element. Therefore, this would be the smallest twist on existing rules.

Zso did very good till now, and it's not his mistake he signed up for light, as he didn't knew this will happen.
