The rush event seems like a better choice for us.  We do have the capacity to build a few stall decks (probably 2x time/light and 1x time/earth) but I'd think that most wins come in 13 turns or less, so I don't really see why we shouldn't pick that one.  Even though we have to win twice as many games in <13 turns with event one as stalling out with event two, event one is enough easier to accomplish that I think we should go with that one.

Shaliyah and I are 8 hours apart so were gonna try Chat each evening after the deckbuilding phase is over,
 and if we don't manage to hook up, we've arranged to play Saturday,
but I'm pretty sure we'll play before that...

I found that is easier to find each other in chat, without fixing a precise time and date.
Anyway, after deckbuilding phase ends, i'll see what time is ok for my opponent.

I've played the first 2 games against Jocko and I'm winning 2-0 so far. Hopefuly we'll finish the matches today at about the same time as yesterday games (~20-21 GMT).
