I started to wonder after I saw the upped version of this. Yes, higher attack, lower def. has advantages... But also the dragon is ''evolving'' backwards. The Silurian is older than the Devonian. Or...is that just a clever joke, saying the big fat dragon died and was replaced with a slim model?
With time cards it is similar to art/artifacts/old buildings/archeologist's wifes/computer games/martial art masters/etc.
the older the better ;]
They gain value and power through being old.

Which dragon do you think is more powerful? A young one or a billion year old one? Or one that existed for the whole eternity?
It's a strange thing that in many mythologies the first creatures that dwelt on Earth were powerful giants and similar creatures, but were later replaced with weaker races. Creatures so big, that you could make mountain ranges, oceans and the sky, stars and everything else out of their body after killing one... replaced with humans and some pantheon they worship, which isn't totally immortal either...

So... the older is stronger and more valuable, but the weaker beats it and persists... until something even weaker comes and takes it's place...

So... what will replace the human race? I know what - something much worse than the zombie plague people fear the most today - something that already exists and is slowly replacing the humans.

Something called no-lifes.

Ah, funny idea. In most cases we would be talking about the species, not the individual dragon. If the Silurian dragon indeed lived 30 millions years before the Devonian dragon it would have had enough time to gain more skills than the Devonian dragon. However, that means the 2 dragons are in fact not the same. They are more like, different lines, not really upgrades of each other.

About those old creation stories.. I think people wrote some powerful beings must have existed to create something like the earth. However, they fought amongst each other, so they died. (Gods, titans, Ragnarok and stuff) Not saying every God died, but in heaven you would not see them anyway.

And we can see in evolution that ''Small + fast reproduction = win'' ''Big, slow and eats a lot = tricky.''

Shards aren't overpowered, as long as you have them yourself.
