I was planning on having a 3 way battle for final.  Kind of round robin style.  Whoever does the best against the other 2 opponents type of thing.   Is that an issue?

Perhaps have a way for a loser to come back into the race? like, Let the Colosseum Public choose which gladiator is their favorite, and let this challenger a second chance ( with a disadvantage considering he didnt get a strenght for winning)

Sounds cool, but it would be even better to start with 3-way battles. Same idea why Soccer World Cup starts with a group round, so players don't get sent home after just 1 lost game.

The 24 players could play 3-way group round and eliminate only 1 from each group, leaving 16 to play a straight tourney after.

Sounds cool, but it would be even better to start with 3-way battles. Same idea why Soccer World Cup starts with a group round, so players don't get sent home after just 1 lost game.

Single-elimination should be used whenever possible for Colosseum, in my opinion.  This stays closest to the last-man standing style of gladiator competition, right?  However, having less than the ideal 4, 8, 16, or 32 increments means SOMETIME you have to introduce a "non-thematic" style of bracket for the competition.  World Cup is a nice style, but really isn't applicable to a gladiator event, save for total lack of other options.  (My take on it)

In the case of A > B, B > C, and C > A in a three-way round-robin could the tie be broken by using HP-remaining for tie-break?  By this I mean that in the theoretical three-way tie whichever player won their match with the most HP remaining wins.  Just a suggestion - I like the three-way final idea as it maintains the single-elimination principle as long as possible without byes with a field of 24 (I think).

Ok, Blacksmith joined, so signups are now closed.  Any posts after this are for substitutes.  As soon as I get any remaining gladiator pm's, I will start the betting system.  Expect battles in 5 days or so (I think 5 days is good for betting).

Ok, it appears that I counted 25 people, but that isn't a problem.  With a suggestion from Majofa, which I agree with, the voting that determines seeding will also determine bye's, and this will run as if there were 32 people (but with byes).  Unfortunately, I am still waiting on 3 characters: Vagman13, Blaze, and Marsu.  You have 24 hours from this time to send me a character, or you will be dropped from the event.  If you see any of these 3 perpetrators in chat, make sure to chastise them XD.

After this 24 hour extension is over, I will set up a 2 day poll, you may vote 5 times on the candidates you think most likely to win.  I will then take that and split it, giving another 2 day poll for greater accuracy.  This will determine seeding and byes.

Also, I swear that somebody dropped the event and told me, but I don't see any record of it anywhere (so I'm guessing it was in chat).  I would love it if whomever this was could let me know.  You are currently signed up in voting but this is my fault, not yours, so just let me know and I will amend this.  If you are all ready gone, somebody is going to get a lucky bye XD (I won't hold you accountable, as again, I should have written this down somewhere, I just figured I would have a record of it (but chat doesn't )

I'm quite sure that I read somewhere that if one does not send in a gladiator, he won't be dropped from the event, but receive a randomized one.
