THE GLADIATORS!

These fearsome warriors are compiled in order by the time they signed up, with a first come, first serve basis.  The poll attached to this (coming very soon) will be enacted for two reasons. 
  • First, to determine who the audience feels is the worthiest gladiator, which will be taken into account when developing the seeding.  Shantu (or the Terminacentaur) has automatic #1 seed as reigning champion. 
  • This poll will also be used to determine whether or not you gain strengths from a bye.  I will take the most popular answer, and no complaining, that is democracy.

I will keep the gladiators updated on this thread instead of a separate thread for each (unless anybody has an issue with this) simply because it is less work.

Now, I present to you! The gladiators! (Arranged by seed)

Spoiler for (1) Shantu - ELIMINATED:
Name:Terminacentaur
Style:Harbinger - Deflagration, Pandemonium, Thunderstorm, Chaos Seed
Strengths:Honey Charger: Choose one of your opponent's strengths.  It is disabled for this match.  May only be taken as a starting strength.
Intimidating: Your opponent must use six less upgraded cards.  Choose an extra weakness.
Weaknesses:Coward: When facing an opponent, if he/she can use more upgrades than you (in the 1st game) you lose access to all non-starting strengths (for the duration of the round).
Pious: You may use up to six copies of Guardian Angel or archangel in any deck but must never use Darkness cards.

Weaknesses:- Unfocused: You may only use 3 copies of any style card used in your deck.
- Crybaby: You may use 6 copies of Nymph's Tears in every deck, but must not use Fire cards.
- Coward: When facing an opponent, if he/she can use more upgrades than you (in the 1st game) you lose access to all non-starting strengths (for the duration of the round).  Ex.  Player A can use 3 upgrades in the first game.  Player B can use 6 upgrades in the first round.  Player A has coward.  Player A loses all strengths except for starting strength while playing Player B.
- Stupid: Every other opponent bested doesn't earn you a strength.

Interesting facts:

All the character styles are used except Beast Master, Iron Bodyguard, and Wind Adept.
There's no Fractal players which is too bad. I think the style can work with the right Strength/Weakness strategy.

The two most popular character styles are Assassin (5) and Healer (3).
I'm kind of surprised that we had so many Healers and so few Planar Beings.

The 3 most popular strengths are Tough (4), First Blood (3), and Self-Confident (3).
Tough is a great strength. Most who chose First Blood also chose Mindless, which is a sneaky way to increase the potency of First Blood. Self-Confident is a big risk, but will hopefully give you the extra boost you need when you need it most (against the better players in the end game).

The most popular weaknesses were Coward (6), Mindless (6), Crybaby (5), Pious (5), and Weak (5).
It's interesting that nobody who chose Coward Brave also chose Weak. That's dangerous because it's not enough to have 0 upgrades when people can have negative upgrades with Weak and Skinny. Crybaby and Pious make a lot of sense since they give you access to a fifth card while only having a small chance of landing in an arena where you can't use Fire or Darkness.

The players using the most common choices: Danieela and Jenkar.

The most unique player: Blacksmith.

I think you might be confusing Coward for something else as choosing Coward AND Weak is setting yourself up for never having more than your original strength availabe...

Oops. You're right. I got Coward mixed up in my head with Brave. Okay, so not pairing Coward and Weak is not so bad, and in fact really good! Not pairing Brave and Weak can make Brave less useful.
