Yeah, this is a whiny question. Yeah, it's probably a little biased, seeing as I'm not that great of a deck-builder or player.
But seriously.

I put up a deck, pretty mediocre to be honest, TU Devonian Dragons, and it went 4 wins, 3 losses, and got taken down.
Meaning that apart from the very newest entrants, every single deck in Gold League must win more than it loses, by quite a significant amount.

Meaning that it may be becoming just too hard to be fun.
I mean, I do decently on wins, with my lame custom speedbow, which is actually quite fun to play, with its various strategies and such.
But I tried with a few different decks that often do quite well in PvP (Dune scorps, blessings, sanctuaries, SoGs, Miracles...pain in the ass) and lost.

In the end it just depends on what difficulty level arena is trying to go for, but honestly, this seems just a little too much, since the AI will always win more than the player (not necessarily an individual), which kinda turns down the fun when its a lame rainbow thing, or speedbow, or ect.
Opinions?

Gold is closer then fake god level then pvp. So use fake god decks. I gotp time wins pretty often, i'm sure others do as well.

For a deck to stay in the t500 of Gold League it has to do better than 75% win (3:1).  This makes it hard to keep a deck up especially if you get a card you don't feel comfortable building around.  As I've said before (regarding decks you post TO the arena) you have two options:

BE MORE CREATIVE:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28274.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28274.0.html)
JOIN THE DARK SIDE:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28268.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28268.0.html)
 ;D

As far as playing against the arena... Gold and Plat are very hard to play against and require FG killing decks with slight PvP twists.  Some good examples are

Shutdown:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,8420.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,8420.0.html)

JMZ classic
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28027.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28027.0.html)

CCYB
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,25878.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,25878.0.html)

And other decks that are often used to fight FGs like RoL-Hope or VVV.  I tried using the MonoAether FG farmer but the arena is much PC heavier than a lot of FGs so I would not suggest something that relies heavily on phase shields.

As this is a player driven part of the game there is some meta and randomness to it... but if you can build around a strategy you like that is still effecient you can win a decent percentage still.  Definitely enough to be in the positive in score and electrum.

The answer to your subject line.....yeah.  They took the fun out of PvP for the casual player.

Some decks are smart in the sense that those know how to use the multiple mark and card draws to full potential, but occasionally that becomes too annoying. Heck, I can't even beat my own arena deck. >.<

For me Gold is not hard (I have usually something like 3-1) there; Platinum is hard (I win less than 50 percent there) but it's ok too.

Is it hard?  Yes..and it's meant to be, especially Platinum.  It's meant to be harder than fg's as a challenge for the most experienced players.  Too hard?  I think there might be a couple cards that need further balancing but overall, I'd say it's just about right.  Also worth noting that it just came out, so people are still developing strategies for it, both for the decks they post and the ones they're playing against them, so it's probably far too soon to really judge the difficulty too much.

Word.

People asked for harder AI's and we now have them.  Platinum is harder than fg's and was intended to be.  Its the AI7 people asked for since Chris Kang made the uber hard trainer.  There is no requirement to play any level or the arena in general.  If you want easy rares, bronze or silver will give them eventually.  if you want a more fun bridge around the halfblood dificulty, gold fills in and repeating, platinum is the ultimate challenge.

So is the arena too hard...yes.  That is what makes it fun though

What was the oracle card and deck?
Also I have won 6 games and lost 3 and been kicked out of top 500 before. ( today I figured out a way around this to be honest, it is called being smart and has nothing to do with deck building. )

Seems like it'd be a bad idea to submit your deck before the masses will submit theirs.
