Fantasy Football

For those of you who are not familiar, there is a certain hobby within the NFL (National Football League) following audience that is called fantasy football.  Leagues are formed all over the U.S. (and I'm assuming at least some other countries, as well) as people try to best each other in this pastime.  In short, each member of the league acquires a team either through drafting, just like our own Draft (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,275.0.html) event, or via an auction similar to what happens in War (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,226.0.html).  Then "your" team plays other teams in the league, with who wins being determined by how the players on the respective teams performed that week.  Records are accrued, with the top teams in the league moving on to the playoffs, where an eventual champion is crowned.  Leagues vary in size, starting lineup requirements, roster allowances, and scoring systems, and all the different permutations of them are far too numerous to post here.

This thread is for all things fantasy football.  Suffered a bad beat this week?  Vent about it on here and blow off some steam.  Had an amazing comeback from seemingly insurmountable odds?  Crow on for all to appreciate your luck.  Even if you have questions about how the hobby actually works, feel free to post them here and I know at least I can answer almost anything you may want to know.  One thing I would like to request of people posting on here is that if they are talking about how their team did that you give some sort of context, ie. league size, scoring system quirks, starting roster composition, anything else pertinent.

I'm in first in my league thanks to Wes Welker, Miles Austin (injured now I'm screwed!), Ray Rice, and LeSean McCoy. I also have Newton but I didn't start him either week because I guess I'm an idiot? lol. But I'm in first in my league and its looking good towards the future.

My team is screwed because my first round pick was Jamaal Charles.  So I'm praying that Brees can pull me out.

Ouch that sucks about Jamaal Charles first round pick.  I am the lucky soul who grabbed Tom Brady and I also Cam Newton (which I'm trying to trade off for considerable value).  I love fantasy football.  It's a great compliment to watching the games during the season.

I've been absolutely destroying my money league thus far.  My team has averaged over 165 points per game this year, and the league average in scoring is right around 120.  I'm 4-0 (we had a doubleheader this last week) while absorbing that beating that Welker threw up against me.  Our rosters are big and the managers are all savvy, so there are literally NO players out on the waiver wire from week to week unless you're looking for a kicker or a substitute D/ST.  We start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex1 (QB/RB/WR/TE), Flex2 (RB, WR, TE), K, D/ST with .5 PPR.  Brees, Stafford, Andre and Stevie Johnson have been standouts for me, and the first two weeks I was running two TE sets with Jimmy Graham and Aaron Hernandez (stupid knee) while my value picked running backs of Felix Jones and Ryan Matthews have been pleasant surprises.  It's been a great start to the year so far, and I play the only other 4-0 team this week.  Sounds like fun to me
