A New Spin on the Top50/PVP Speed Rainbow https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=5600.msg56898#msg56898
« on: April 21, 2010, 06:16:26 am »
Let me start off by saying that while my deck is original, it is based off of phalgast's deck found here http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5213.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5213.0.html). However, I have tweaked it to balance out the quanta usage and make it better/well-rounded/DEADLY against PVP opponents.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6u1 6u1 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 713 713 745 74d 74d 77g 77g 7ag 7ag 7dm 7dm 7dq 7gm 7mu 7qb 7qb 80g 8pj

The playing strategy is fairly simple: play any towers you have, once you've accumulated 2  :entropy, play any Supernovas in your hand, then begin to overwhelm your opponent with any and all creatures you have. As for the non-creature cards, play any Precog's as soon as you can. They will help to identify your opponents strategy (and potentially dangerous cards, mostly just Rain of Fire) and give you that crucial card draw. I usually hold on to any Explosions I have until the opponent plays a pesky shield (Procrastination, Diamond Shield, Phase Shield, etc.) or Eagle's Eye. Gravity Force is used to target and kill high damage or threatening creatures that might cause you trouble (dragons, Oty's, Maxwell's Demons, etc.).

One of the keys to this deck is the balance in the quanta used. This is very useful in the early parts of a match so you can get more creatures out faster, thus dealing more damage before your opponents (especially rainbow decks) can establish their defense.

Here is the quanta usage for the deck:

 :aether 4
 :air 4
 :darkness 2 (Werewolf evolution)
 :death 6
 :earth 6
 :entropy 4
 :fire 7
 :gravity 7
 :life 6
 :light 0
 :time 4 (Graboid evolution)
 :water 4

Other card options:
These are cards that I had in earlier versions of the deck but didn't make the final cut...
2x Improved Blessing: Helps to protect your creatures with low health against Oty's, creature control spells, Fire Bucklers, and Eagle's Eye's. Also adds that extra little bit of damage that might win you the battle. Also, at 2 :light each, doesn't stain your quanta at all.
2x Lightning: Plus - Can deal direct damage to your opponent.
Minus - Damage is capped at 5, whereas Gravity Force is capable of dealing much more.

Now for a little demonstration of the awesomeness of this deck  :D Against Top50

Deck Type                                         Wins                         Losses
Large Rainbow (51-60 cards)              7                                0
Medium Rainbow (41-50)                     9                                2
Small Rainbow (30-40)                         7                                0
Speed Poison                                       5                                1
Shrieker Rush                                       5                                0
Mono Fire                                             4                                0
Mono Dark                                            4                                0
Fractal-Phoenix                                     3                                0
Fractal-Pest                                           3                               0
Air/Fire                                                   2                                0
Gravity/Fire                                            2                                0
Light/Entropy                                         2                                0
Gravity/Aether                                       1                                1
Farm Decks                                            19                               0

Totals                                                     73                              4
Totals without Farms                              54                              4

Notes: Two losses were due to bad draws (lack of Supernovas once, lack of creatures once), one loss was due to opponents amazing starting hand, and one was just a legitimate beatdown. Sadly, it happens.

Well, I think that just about wraps it up. I've played for several months now, using all sorts of different deck combinations. Some decks can get boring and monotonous after a while, even if they are good. Some decks are fun, but aren't that good. This, however, is the best of both worlds. Fun and consistently good. Try it out and let me know what you think. Have any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Criticisms? Fire away.

If I were to use this deck, i'd probably do this: -1 grav force, +1 Improved Antimatter.

Shouldnt be a big issue with purple quanta, but the purple qanta should come from the quantum towers as they obviously do not come from the snovas.

personally, i prefer pillarless golem rush decks and the mono fire rush decks when farming top50, but this deck is also one of the most consistent on top50 right now.

I tried this deck w/ only 8 upgraded cards, 2 graboids and the 6 nova's upped, and it seems to run very fast. I switched out a grav force for an antimatter, and that helps to heal, and kept me alive an extra turn to take out the opp. The damage is surprisingly quick to build up. Well thought deck :D

Yeah... Antimatter is a 2 for 1 card. It can also potentially be a 3 for 1. :)

Think of Antimatter this way: 1 antimatter cast on a, let's say, a 10 power creature. Technically what it did is "Kill" the monster, right? Thing is, it also prevents damage from another creature, could even be more than just one creature with power summing up to 10.

That is how strong antimatter is. Leaving an antimattered creature you own unchecked can shut you down effectively.

Also, variants of the rainbow rush has always been effective in PVP and T50.

Very nice deck.

Cost to buy all cards un-upgraded is only: 864 Electrum.
Then the standard 45,000 Electrum to upgrade 30 cards...

I'm going to start working on this asap :)

First turn, played:
2 Nova's
1 Supernova
Sapphire Charger, Flesh Spider, Blue Crawler

It's about 15% upgraded at the moment :)

Another one,

My 15% upgraded version, beating a similar fulling upgraded one... 2 Nova's + 1 Supernova in the first round kicks ass.

Hey thanks everyone for your thoughts and input on the deck. I'll definitely check out the swap of the Gravity Force for an Improved Antimatter. One change that I have made to the deck (didn't feel like making an edit to the main post) is to take out the Elite Wyrm and switch it for an Elite Pegasus. I've found that while playing the Elite Wyrm, my  :air quanta was too heavily taxed with using 2 quanta per turn to Dive. With the Elite Pegasus, it costs  :light quanta to play while using only 1 air quanta to Dive. Much more efficient. And while the Pegasus does deal slightly less damage, I believe that is offset by it having more survivability (4hp as opposed to the Wyrm's 3), allowing it to survive against a Rain of Fire. Thanks again for all your input. Keep it coming!!!

If you are taking out the wyrm, I might suggest using shockwave or throwing in a shield, namely, find something that uses  :air for a more rainbow type deck. Or, keep the :air wyrm and throw in a blessing, which is only two  :light upgraded. I do see where you are going with the 2 :air problem tho, and I agree that it does kind of kill the dmg it does.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't realize that Pegasus used :air for diving :D

i took Psience's advice and added one purple nymph in place of a grav. force, but an antimatter would work just as well.
Are you tired of those old boring rushes? Well look no further!

Very effective deck, even challenging lavagolem/phoenix rush !

I dislike gravity force aswell, i've been adding 2 blackhole and antimatter.
As there is much rainbows decks in T50, find it useful !

Also changed cockatrix for forest spectres, taken out wrym, elite charger and abyss crawler to put an elite dejavu, imp. blessing and imp. fog shield.
