I saw the reminder message I got and were just building a deck, but was apparently a few minutes too late. I guess majofa or Submachine built a deck for me instead? Oh well, thanks then, it's all my fault for forgetting about this.

For what it is worth at this point (players should be self-testing in the Xeno-sim anyways...), the new Dry Spell | Dessication and both 'salvagers' (upgrades and normal) break in the simulator.  Therefore, they could/should be banned along with the shards.
