Already got a Sphinx, sorry. It's called Pharoh. (augh, can't spell that right!)

We could use a-
Cyclops.
Nereid.
Centaur.
Etc.
Aren't Sphinxes different from Pharoahs?

Death could be a Banshee,Ghost, or Skeletal Being.
Centaur could be :life or :earth IMHO, I would make it Earth since Naga seems better w/Life.
Nereid sounds really similar to this : http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13290.0.html

Possibly:
Light - Angel (Another one with a diff. purpose than Guardian Angel)
Darkness - Shade, Half-Spiderling
Gravity - Colossus

The Pharoah looks like a Sphinx because of the face.

I thought the same thing. So, tally it up.
Centaur =  :earth.
Naga =  :life.
Mermaid =  :water.
Banshee =  :death
Living Shade =  :darkness.
Colossus =  :gravity. (Behemoth deja vu?)

I seem to have been misinterpreted. A bunch of mythological creatures is not a well defined series. A bunch of half animal creatures would be the multielement equivalent of the original idea. Banshee, Sphinx, Colossus and Shade are not creatures of the same vein as Mermaid and Naga. I would suggest focusing on the animal part and making names up if necessary.

So far animals I think would fit this series well: Fish (obviously), Spider, Snake, Birds, Horse.

Focus on the animal part? Just to avoid misinterpretation...

Yeah. Afterall, it is the Fish part that makes a Mermaid a water being.
Once you have a collection of suitible animals you can make/find half human artwork and make names up if necessary.

If the desire to stick with the Mermaid concept. The environment that they swim in would be key the success of that idea.

Environment:
:aether Ethereal Pools
:air Rain/Storm Clouds
:darkness
:death
:earth Mud/Quicksand
:entropy
:fire
:gravity
:life
:light
:time
:water any body of water
If Nowhere is Somewhere, and Somewhere is Over there, How can we be Anywhere?

The Mermaids would be limited, unless we can figure out how and in what they can swim. I'd like to keep them as Mermaids if possible, neater and better connection.

But I want to make it all 12 elements. So if we can't do all of them, then it'd be better to come up with animal counterparts.

1) Try the desired pools for elements and let's see where can we get.

2) Animals get involved if we can't do 1)

Environment:
:aether Ethereal Pools
:air Rain/Storm Clouds
:darkness
:death Ghosts would come here. They swim in the air and are weightless.
:earth Mud/Quicksand
:entropy
:fire
:gravity
:life Snakes could be placed here. It's fairly close to fishtails and could be suitable.
:light
:time
:water any body of water

Good ideas. How to picture them? Any fish parts even with Lava background will be ruled over by OldTrees....  :-X
