I believe you would not be allowed too.  In the world cup you can't play for a team unless you are actually from the country, this is supposed to follow that.

The rule as stated in the OP is that you must play for the country whose flag you display in forum.  I think that as long as that flag remains consistent for each player, for example, for 3 months prior to the event, that you should be able to play for that country.  I'm still waiting to immigrate into Canada, but I've displayed the Canadian flag since I got here.
