I used this one with a slightly different distribution of upgrades and it worked well. It looks like the only necessary ones are the Jade Shields (which you can use against Dream Catcher as well so they're worth upgrading). He didn't get more than 5 EEs before late game so that I was able to outheal every damage done for a long time. Also, it looks like Explosion prioritizes (unupped) Sanctuary over Jade Staff. At the time I made him deck out I had 60 HP remaining (before I used Miracle+Heal, duh).

However, I don't see the point of the dragon. It survived for 2 turns against 4 EEs, a Fire Shield and a Fire Bolt, hence its damage was negligible. Did you include it to make Octane play a bolt, thereby to prevent his hand from getting clogged to ensure the double draw and the deckout?

Right. Jades are also perfect against Decay. Yes, the Dragon is to ensure deckout. It's not often you need it, but sometimes his draws suck.

Might as well post the one I use on my alt. If you're semi-upped, it might help ya. Just need Jade Shields and some rares (SoG's, Miracles), although it can win without Miracles with more Heals if it doesn't draw SoG's too late. I just had my worst game with it when I sat on very low quanta start and few SoG's, but I still won with EM.

Winrate: 4-0
EM's: 4
Neat deck.  I ran it fully upped, and I had a crazy slow start with just 1 Tower.  I got hit with a Fire Bolt, 4 UGs (including three in one turn), and 1 EE with another UG on the board before I got the quanta to play a Jade Shield.  I had a Miracle in hand, so I knew I could weather the storm, but he got me down to 12 HP.  After that was Sancs and SoGs galore, and it was easy sailing to an EM*.

Had I run the mixed upgrade deck and the Miracle was unupped, I would not have had the quanta to play it.  I could have played my Sancs earlier which should have been enough (SoGs seemed too big of a risk with my limited :life quanta), but it would have been far more nerve-wracking hovering in the 20s and 30s until I could build up to Miracle.

If the deck can survive that bad of a start, then it is a very solid counter.  Kudos.

*I had a Forest Scorpion for a pet which lasted 5 turns before dying to a shield.  The 5 poison, Jade Staff, and one hit from a Light Dragon were enough to kill Octane before he decked.  So the second Miracle and Heal I drew were essential for the EM.

The deck I use for octane looks pretty much like the one in majofa's opening post, the 500hp EM earth/light one.  The only major difference is I've got some upped sundials in it.  It pretty much can't lose once you get a reflective shield out, and it won't lose much power even unupped, although obviously sundials will be out of the question in that case.

Yeah Sundials were mentioned earlier in the thread when talking about that deck. I think everyone agrees the deck gets much better by adding dials.

Like Calindu said, replace 6 Aether Pillars and 6 Light Pillars for 12 Aether pillars.

Tried and it is a very charming EM.
