The following discution http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,3149.0/topicseen.html about Morning Glory made me seriously doubt on the well founded of this fact:
Flying | Animate weapon is able to target protected weapons.

Abstract:
Why is it the only card that can target untargetable cards is flying weapon?  I mean, what the hell?  I can't steal your weapon, I can't target your weapon, but you can target it to make it fly?  That's bullshit.
I totally agree.

Actually, the "immaterial" status is protection from Destroy and Steal. Nothing Else.

Let's see this another way:


Titan, Morning Star, Fahreneit, Arsenic : damaging elemental weapons
Owl's Eye, Lobotomizer, Eternity: creature control weapons
Vampire Stiletto, Druidic Staff : Healing Weapons
Pulverizer, Discord, Trident : Misc control weapons


Now, let's isolate the damage group.

Titan = 7 / 8 with monumentum
Morning Star = 7 / 8 with protection
Fahreneit = 4+ / 5+
Arsenic = 2+ / 4+


Every weapon has a peculiarity, Morning Star has that one.


This topic is just because you lose too much to Divine Glory.

Animate Weapon needs no nerf

I don't really loose more against Divine Glory than I should. I don't think he is to strong either.
I don't really think FW|AW needs a nerf as such. What I propose isn't really a nerf either.
I just don't understand why a Vampire Stiletto + Protected Artefact is not treated the same way that morning glory!
MG + FW => Immortal Flying MG
Titan + PA + FW => Flying Titan
It's inconsistent and I dislike it...

I can clear this up for you. Animate Weapon doesn't target your weapon. It simply discards the permanent in slot #10 (weapon) and plays a creature version of the card. The discard and creature placement are separate events within one card, so it is possible to animate your weapon while you have a full field of creatures. The weapon will leave permanent slot #10 and activate the "flying" animation, but you will receive an error message saying that there are no creature slots available.

The creature version of the card has the same attack power, active skill, and passive skill (i.e. Ranged) as the discarded weapon. It also gains hp according to the weapon that was discarded as well as the passive skill, Airborne. Morning Star/Glory's active skill is "Immaterial", so when animated, the creature version is also immaterial.

Then the poll question should change.  "Do you believe that Flying | Animate weapon should be able to target protected weapons ? "  is a confused question, because the mechanic does not work that way.  You don't select the weapon after using Flying Weapon, like you don't select your own health after using Heal.

And not being able to use the spell because the weapon is protected is similar to saying that pillars should no longer stack on top of a protected pillar stack.

I think it's fine as is, no change needed. Slightly related: the freeze/delay on Voodoo Doll also targets the slot, right?
