Earth / Re: Iridium Warden | Vanadium Warden

First when I saw this I really liked it - but now after testing the mechanic in trainer, I feel bit disappointed since I apparently first misunderstood how the card works:
  • I thought this card would either damage targeted creature or opponent, but it actually damages both. To me phrase "Guard" doesn't explain type of activity at all. I feel that "Guarding someone" is more of an ongoing process, that requires ones full attention and thus makes one unable to attend to other tasks (like attacking opponent).
  • I thought this creature would get damaged by the creature it starts to guard (card uses word block), but instead this just puts it into sleep (= game mechanic delay).
I don't think the mechanic is bad as it is, but please change the wording on the card for something more appropriate. My try for re-phasing:
:earth: Smite  Attack the target creature and make it unable to attack or use skills for 1 more turn.
or
:earth: Smite  Attack the target creature and delay it for 1 turn (cumulative).

What if you changed name Manatee to Koala? They basically just eat eucalypt leaves and sleep.

Do you have something against French, Zse? I think it's sexier this way! But, it's not really the point here, you are right. Moreover, Matryoshka already means doll. Then it would be Nesting doll|Матрьошка ...
Nothing against French people. I just think the French way of spelling shouldn't be used in this spot, and so I wanted to point out that little thing like Fredd0 asked:
...
Please let me know if you see any mistake before I submit to the Crucible  :)
Actually I don't speak a word of Russian myself, but seeing the word spelled having those letter combinations io and ch just looked/sounded weird and not Russian.

Why the name is now half French? Matriochka is not the way to spell that word in English nor in Russian.

The term is 'matriochka  doll'. :)
No, it's матрёшка. We already have Schrödinger’s Cat, so why not use the original name here too. :P

Thematically I'd like to see these Dolls having more health points than attack power. That would fit well in :earth, although getting random :rainbow element dolls could also be kind of fun, but then it would be harder to use in non-rainbow deck.

Archived Decks / Re: ESco the Half-Blood killer (used to win >95%)

I'm a newbie and I found this link in zse's signature.

Is this still a viable deck in v1.26?
I don't have all the necessary cards and I know it's better to get an upgraded deck for FG farming first, but I was just wondering if somebody have tested this deck unupgraded, with only the key cards upgraded (like SoG)?

Thanks
Remember that Chaos Seed =/= Chaos Power

Chaos Seed inflicts one of the following effects : Drain Life, Fire Bolt, Freeze, Gravity Pull, Ice Bolt, Infection, Lightning, Lobotomize, Parallel Universe, Reverse Time, Shockwave, Sniper.

Chaos Power :
Attack bonus ranges from 1 to 5
Health bonus ranges from 1 to 5

That card MUST BE upgraded to be of any use in this deck. If you don't have that card upped, you can't use this :entropy :time duo version of Dune Scorpion.

On sidenote,
Behold, another tweaked version, now coming with some FG-grinding stats and whatnot:
Eternal Chaos by zse, SnoWeb, Zeru and Vagman13! (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20173.0.html)

General Discussion / Re: FG Farming Efficiency Study: Design Phase
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:16:42 am »
First I would split anti-FG decks into 2 different categories:
  • Decks that try to win as many games as possible within certain amount of time, disregarding how many times they lose.
    Rush Hope/RoL, Shakar's, Retrovirus decks.
  • Decks that try to win as many games as possible compared to the number of losses, disregarding how long time it takes to play one game.
Control Hope/RoL, CCYB, Lone Stalker, Dune Scorpion decks.
From my experience it basically takes minimum 200 games total, or some 8 to 10 games against each FG, to get somewhat reliable results on how well given deck works in a long run. Anything less is just too much luck dependent.

Second mindgate is great idea. Most of my losing was because I deck out. Althrough I used twins but it is not enough.
Deck out? That should be virtually impossible unless you're playing against Divine Glory. It can sometimes happen against Decay or Dark Matter too, but then decking out is actually due to not having enough quanta.

Are you using Mindgate to to get more creatures (Malignant Cell etc.)? Trick is to use Eternity first, and then Mindgate the rewinded creature, that is then the first card on opponent’s deck.

Buff This Card! / Re: Turquoise Nymph | Aether Nymph
« on: February 08, 2011, 02:10:33 pm »
This shows that for the same use Anubis is more used (probably because it is better).
A common card is better than a nymph ...
We don't say it needs a buff. It needs a change!
Anubis, common card: used more because it is better.
Turquoise Nymph, Ultra-rare card: used less because it is totally useless, and thus needs to be changed.
[/sarcasm]

If Turquoise Nymph is really so bad, and is being totally overshadowed by Anubis, how you explain the fact that :time :water :light :death and :earth Nymphs are used even less than it.

If this card wasn't used at all, then maybe it should be changed. But since it is already around 5th to 7th most used Nymph, it clearly shows that Turquoise is played in some decks regardless for the fact that it has similar ability than Anubis. Do we really want to see Turquoise Nymph "changed" like Light Nymph was? Do you?

Nymph cards usage (http://www.elementsthegame.com/liststats.php):
:rainbowUn-uppedUpped
:entropy11
:gravity24
:fire62
:darkness39
:aether57
:life103
:air410
:time96
:water78
:light125
:death811
:earth1112
http://www.elementsthegame.com/liststats.php
[sarcasm]
This data clearly proves it: :aether Nymph being only the 5th most used un-upped Nymph and the 7th most used upped Nymph needs buffing badly - since clearly nobody is using this at all at the moment. :'(
[/sarcasm]

*edit: couple of errors on list was corrected*

Brimstone eater is just fine.  With Fahrenheit/Fire Lance it needs 0 buffs.

Fixed your misspelling.
Re-fixed the ACTUAL misspelling (not a card confusion), and added clarity/capitalization. :P

That said; Stone Skin is really the only thing that uses/soaks up excessive amounts of :earth quanta, alongside an Earth Nymph. One could include the usage of the 'Burrow' ability as well, but... yeah. XD
Lava Golem and Lava Destroyer disagree.
"Sac RoL/BallL/Phö/BEater" fan-club is also pleased to hear that they are getting yet another 0-cost alternative to Cremate.

Nerf This Card! / Re: Enchant Artifact | Protect Artifact
« on: February 08, 2011, 09:24:38 am »
This card is actually getting a nerf. The only 2 things I usually see this protecting are
1)A weapon
2)A pillars/towers/pendulums/ect

Now, no 1 is no longer safe, even with this card.
Yep.
1) Frozen weapon + Shockwave = No weapon.
2) Pillars/Towers/Pendulums -> generate quanta
quanta + Black Hole/Gravity Nymph/swarm of Pests = No quanta.

Those 2^ are pretty situational strategies, but nevertheless there are/will be ways to play around this card. And that is a really good thing. Nerfing EA|PA effect more seems unnecessary at the moment, but the card cost could maybe be a bit higher.
