Potential issue, throwing the forum's deck creator into the table throws the table itself out of whack, cutting off text above it.  I've placed the image in the original post, outside the table for now until a fix is found.

Edit: Flayne's method of spoilering the image works.

I definitely understand what you're saying, and if this was a pure  :aether card (like the original idea that I'd come up with before), then I would agree.  As it is, it's going to be a somewhat harder card to use, and the type of deck it could be used in is going to be limited.  Given all of that, the fact that it can ONLY target immortal creatures, not regular ones, and that it is an easily killed or altered creature, I went with the option of allowing it to target.  Ideally, if you're using this to begin with, you're going to have it out soon enough to begin dealing damage before the opponent can get any real number of immortal creatures out anyway, so I don't think it would alter the balance that much anyway by making it random.

By passive, any creature without an activatable ability, such as Dive, Ablaze, or Hatch.  Passive ability creatures, such as Puffer Fish and Gnome Rider may be targeted. 

Any fraction of 6 will give an extra point of damage (so 7  :aether = 2 pts of damage), but a zero-count  :aether pool will not give any damage.  Only damage that creature actually takes heals you, so if you do 10 pts of damage to a 6 HP creature, you're only going to get healed for 6.

Change Notes:
Original version targeted only immortal or immaterial creatures.
Original upped was named Lich's Spirit, cost 5 :darkness and was 1|4.
Changed 'target generic creature' to 'target passive creature', targeting remains unaffected by change.


Contest Info:  Changed deck to reflect card change.  4 Electrocutors give a chance of having one out in play early enough to shut down or at least delay many decks, and also expand the number of targets that LS can target.  4 Animate Weapons gives the extra Electrocutors a purpose, as well as create targets out of opponent's weapons (Animate, Lobotomize, Lich's Touch.)  As with the previous deck, if the opponent is running light on creatures, you have Voodoo Dolls in your arsenal to zap with this card.  Empty cards in the deck below are Lich's Spirit | Lich's Specter.

In order to tie this closer to  :gravity (and prevent multiple copies of the same card being played at once), it should probably drain all  :gravity, not all  :light.  If not, other than the requirement for the challenge, why would it not simply be a  :light spell?

I did think about Fractal, which is why the amount of damage per creature is so low (originally it was going to be 4 & 6.)  Getting the setup for max damage is going to be a bit problematic to begin with; max number of creatures you're going to be able to put out with Fractal alone is what, 8 (1 in play already, 7 spawned in hand)?  So that's 24 damage. Not to mention that doing that will require having 10 (or 9)  :aether, 10  :fire, 14 :darkness (going off the Pest example), and both  :aether & :fire pools will be dropped to zero. 

Edit: Gotcha about the other Apoc...I'll change the name up once I get the chance later today.

Immaterial/burrowed creatures do not count; only targetable creatures count towards the total damage done. Example of unupped: Phase Dragon, Ash Eater, Red Nymph are all in play on caster's side.  Phase Dragon is immaterial, and does not get counted.  Ash Eater dies, 2 (leftover) damage is dealt to caster.  Red Nymph drops to 1|3.  6 damage is done to opponent.

Immaterial/burrowed creatures not counting is to prevent this being abused by  :aether :fire or similar decks.
