I finally have enough money to upgrade, however I don't have too many cards.
Can some experienced players please give some advice about:

when you should begin to upgrade
what kind of cards you should upgrade first
what are the best/worst cards to upgrade

I'm not super experienced like some of the Veterans, but I can still help!
Okay so first, you should think about upgrade a FG grinding deck. The one that costs the least money to upgrade would be RoL/Hope:

Code: [Select]
5lk 5lk 5lk 5lk 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jq 7jq 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80e 80e 80e 80i 80i 80i 80i 80i 80i
This deck is very cheap to get started because the only cards you need to upgrade would be the RoL, aka the Ray of Light. Everything else isn't needed until you have the money to do so.
Photon -> RoL

The reason to upgrade a FG deck first is because grinding FGs get you the most money/hour, which allows you to continue to upgrade more cards.

Here's a FG guide you might find useful:

I agree with Wonder here.  The first cards you are going to want to upgrade are Photons into RoLs to make a RoL/Hope FG deck.  You also might want to upgrade a lobo or 2 for that deck, upped ones help more than you would think.  To make that deck even better, upgrade green shards into Shard of Gratitude (SoG).  These drastically improve your win rate.  With this, you will win upped cards and more electrum from the FGs, which will lead you into other upgraded decks.
Here's the RoL/Hope thread:

Hope this helped.

Key cards of FG Decks are good for first upgrade, like Ray of Light , SoG, Supernova, Hourglass...
RoL - Hope is a good starter for fights against FGs. I wouldn´t completely upgrade it (better decks exist)

I would go to the wiki and look through the list of cards and their upgrades, you´ll probably find some interesting and some uninteresting upgrades.

Actually, for SPEED GRINDING, the best is RoL/Hope. It beats some gods easily, and there are a few you must skip, leading to short matches if you lose, and long ones only if you win (and against some pesky gods).
Every other FG grinding deck (I mean Rainbows such as CCYB) can beat any FG, thus you will lose lots of time being beaten by most of them (it can lose to any god with a bad draw, and bad draws are far more common in this decks).
In average, I guess RoL/Hope is the fastest electrum grinder out there. I tried lots of decks (CCYB for months, Pestal, Oty-Bonewall-Druid variations) and RoL/Hope is my favourite by far.

First upgrade the RoLs, or you won't be able to play. Then Electrocutors, then Fractal/Aether pillars and Dragons last. Don't upgrade Hope, since it costs you 1  :light more, and that's generally the difference between being dead and slaying a FG.

Yeah RoL/Hope is a really great deck to have.
The gods you should skip are Octane and Hermes I think.
This is also the best deck for your score if you're worried about that xD

I started RoL Hope with only 4 RoLs and it worked fine until you get the money to upgrade the other ones.

You don't need anything more than that upgraded to get the deck to work well enough to beat FGs, but you should upgrade some of the cards ASAP to improve your win-rate.

Shakar is not for newbies, though :P

The learning curve is rather steep, and it takes some patience to play because it has a low win rate, but a high number of games per hour.

RoL/Hope is much more stable, and the newbies will actually win enough to not ragequit. Plus, it only needs 5-6 upgrades (RoL) as opposed to ~16 (Supernovas, Entropy Pends, BB).

well before hammythepig here can do any of that, he'll have to get some rare cards first. he'll have to grind t50 for rares and money. then he'll be able to grind fg's. to help me grind t50, i upgraded 2 immolations cuz i ran an immo-lava golem rush deck.
