The Duels section came into being a year ago and in that time less than 100 matches have taken place. I think the whole Duels concept is sort of broad, confusing, unapproachable, and unrewarding.
I wouldn't mind seeing Koth replace it. General feedback on the idea of replacing Duels is appreciated.
A rough Koth framework- Lasts some period of time (~2 months)
- Koth season starts with a match between two players. The player who wins becomes the King of the Hill. Players challenge the King until one wins and becomes King.
- If you challenge and lose to the Koth you may not challenge him for another 20 hours.
- If you lose to the Koth three times you may not challenge again until the current Koth is beaten and replaced.
- If the Koth doesn't have a match during a 72 hour period, his reign is ended. Any two players (including the former Koth) can then fight. The winner becomes Koth with one win.
- At the end of the Koth season, whoever had the longest string of victories as Koth wins. Tie goes to whoever had the win streak
last. Forum award icon and maybe in-game prizes to the victor.
- Deckbuilding rules can be whatever the Organizer decides. An argument could be made for Koth picks the rules or challenger picks the rules but I think that's messy. I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing a 0-up, 0-rare ruleset, as this would be an easy event for new players to jump into and we should encourage that. Best-of-3, free to change decks between matches.
Feedback on the proposed structure is appreciated.
Note: I checked before posting here and Kaker already posted a
KotH PvPE idea, but what I have here is very different.
