Is a rush deck really good enough?? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=22017.msg282416#msg282416

I've been playing with a rush deck for quite a while, it's fire and pretty effective. It doesn't seem enough. Aether decks and entropy decks basically foil it.  :entropy+ :aether = kill to rush decks. Rush decks = kill almost every other deck (besides voodoo doll-rage potion decks).

a good rushdeck is good enough.
Take this, for example:
Code: [Select]
4vj 4vj 5f2 5f2 5f2 7dh 7dh 7dh 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 809 809 809 809 809 809I use this to rush and can beat most of the decks out there. Of course there are better and worse matchups, and sometimes it's luck-dependent, but a deck that is "fast enough" is usually fast enough to overcome any type of opposing decks.

Of course, there is no deck that beats all.

It depends on the opponent. A rush deck doesn't need more than its midrange attackers. that is 2 x 6 =12. 11 or 12 pillars will usually do also. Total = 23 to 24.

That means you have room for 6 or 7 auxiliary cards that might improve on a sheer rush. You probably know a rush that runs into permafrost or phase shield is a bust, so there you can add some deflags, maybe some CC.

The other way to slice it is to play with 15 pillars and 15 creatures, some of them more expensive. I think this is dumb, because it will never be a rush if you draw the expensive creatures early. They just sit there in your hand.

There is even a rush possible with low level attackers, that is with about 12 pillars and 18 attack! This works well enough, for example for death. Problem is most elements don't have that low level attacker.
Shards aren't overpowered, as long as you have them yourself.

Every deck 'rushes' to an extent.  For a stall to effectively defeat a rush, it must be able to get setup a solid defence before the rush has the chance for the kill.   If the stall is not fast enough it will not be successful.   The medium speed Domination deck will beat a rush every time with a combinate of speed and just enough control to thwart your rush.

on topic:
in a game like elements, speed=power
so... rushes do tend to be very good, in fact the best...
stalls rush too, to an extent, but the opposite, rushes rush to kill, stalls rush to prevent getting killed (if that makes sense)

it makes perfect sense. rushes are just one tactic for beating AIs and pvps but obviously they have their weaknesses. usually the long game prevails usually in the form of rainbow decks. it's a good idea to have both easily within reach. i do kind of agree with waterknight2012 though and that's why i started out with a mono water rush/stall (if water had PC cards then i would include those but for cc permafrost and arctic octopuses are perfect).

I've actually noticed that it feels like the PVP-1 metagame is moving away from rushes quite a lot. I've noticed that whenever I go strait trawlin' with a mono-Life rush, it just isn't enough. Most AI3s are starting to look like dominator decks too, so I'm starting to feel like I haven't made a good rush deck in ages...
