I know all veterans of this game want us, newbs, to have a hard time gathering all the upped cards. I know that. It's normal.
Well this is just a lie.
Veterans are playing hundreds of games and recording stats on decks they don't even like playing. They are also making guides so even the most incompetent newb possible can breeze through the AI.

I'm not sure why it even matters to change the special spin. You would have more rares, but so would everyone else. Nothing changes.
I don't have anything against you, or your points anymore, but since I've felt this frustration before, I'll try to explain for Brontos.

1) It is true that veterans don't have anything against the newbies, and are often here in chat and the forum to help anybody with questions out no matter how repetitive they are. In fact, of the many games I've played, this game probably has the most amiable and respectful community! However, I also believe it is true that the veterans who have worked hours and hours on this game want to make it directly easier for newbies to get the necessary cards (even I feel the same way, though can't explain). I think this rather 'unwillingness to change' makes the newer players believe that veterans want newbies to have a hard time..

2) On "I'm not sure why it even matters to change the special spin. You would have more rares, but so would everyone else. Nothing changes", this point is in fact not true. In a racing or a shooting game, if you give everybody better cars or guns, not much will change, as the players are versing each other. However, elements is a much more individualistic game (unless you choose to join the community), and all that happens from gaining rare cards more easily is that they become a step closer to the veterans, and are able to choose from a more varied number of decks. Of course, the arena may become more difficult as it is flooded with new overpowered shards and such, but I don't think that is really a major point.

As I wrote in the very beginning, I don't personally have any problems with vets or the spin (I already have the rares :D) but just wanted to explain some of the points/

I enjoy the strange variety found in Bronze and Silver. I don't have many upped cards, maybe around 75 or so. And I don't try to win upped cards. Playing often in Gold nets me a ton of electrum fast, even if I lose a lot too. I just rm ronzeand Silver for rare cards, and then up them when I feel I need them ffor a deck.

Hum, this sentence was pejorative against veterans. That, in fact, was not my meaning. My bad. :)

I'm not talking about veterans, about mono aether, about whatever. I'm just saying that rewards for hard things shouldn't be a source of frustration. I worked during 5 years for Blizzard, and this experience certainly shape my vision of what a game should be. Am I right? I'd like to be. But that's not sure. Am I frustrated when I don't have the upped rare after 3 hard games in platinium? Yes I am. And I didn't like that. But I still really love the game.

I got all of your points, and really, I saw how good this community is. I don't want my thread to be seen as something against veterans. It's just that, in a majority of games (a large majority), veterans likes things to be hard and don't like noobs who complains about that. I saw that it's kinda true here, but don't make me wrong: I've also seen the same veterans being awesome with noobs in Elements. Again, don't take my point too badly. It's not what I want to mean.

Just a clarification. :)

 :electrum from oblivion (name-pun-intended)

i look at bronze/silver as a rare-farm..

while gold/plat as score/electrum booster...

and, I'm totally with Kamietsu on the upping stuff..  :D :D :D

Frustration, its all relative.

If you are a newbie you shouldn't even be in platinum. The fact alone that you seam to really have to struggle to get that spin and then suffer that much frustration is the proof of that you are in the wrong league.

I presume that me and plenty of people with several to lots of upgraded decks and cards hardly get frustrated. We win enough or so much that, those spins aren't that rare and as such a failed spin doesntbother us.

Regarding the rare spin in the end. My winrate from it is probably around 4/5... or rather 5/6... honestly I'm not sure it could be higher. I don't try to go for specific rares though, I try to get to the quickest triple spin i can. All i know is that im surprised every time 2 fails in a row and those i can count on just the fingers of of one hand since the arena was implemented. Its not rare at all to get 10 cards in a row before a spin fail.

Before I go any further, I would like to say that I do agree that spins on platinum should always win. I know that I've felt this frustration before, and that it really doesn't help the game.

Hmmm... I don't really think that anything should stop people like me, with half upgraded decks, from playing platinum when we can win these special spins. If you can get the epic reward from beating the hardest difficulty in the game... Why not?

I know that I (without playing loads of arena) have got two platinum spins so far. I haven't got any rares from them, or my gold special spin.

I'm going to start recording my spins in the spread-sheet I made for arena testing. I would urge others to do the same because I really don't know what is normal any more :(

Just create a copy and get going :P

I'm level 58. I don't know if that allows me to play in Platinium or not. But anyway, I do.
I play randomly in the 4 leagues in fact, to break the routine feeling I have when I chain Bronze/Silver.

I got my rares now. I only need a few shards and I get my electrums against the FG. I'm fine. :)
But anyway, I'm close to 200 upped cards now, and still, I can feel this frustration when I don't have an upped rare in the gold/platinium special spin. Maybe noobs like me care a bit more about their rewards than veterans like you. :)

I'm starting to get used to it. I've lowered my expectations. Doesn't change the fact that I think it's a bit sad to reach it, and to get nothing in the end. Maybe in 6 months I'll be the one answering noobs in this forum about how hard the game is right to be.  :P

I'm also level 58 :D
But Rastafla was probably talking about newbies in terms of those without enough upped cards and a good upped deck, as facing platinum arena without an upped league is absolutely impossible.

Your argument is unreasonable, as you are only thinking for you, and people in your circumstance.
Why not bronze and silver, for the newbies that just finished their 500 score quest, and want a lobo?
Why only platinum? why not also gold since you have to get 4 in a row instead of 3?

But finally at @Rastafla, I have the same strategy when getting to the special spin, but you seem to be a lot luckier D:

As of now, winning 3 games in Platinum nets you 669  :electrum and score minimum.
Is this not enough of a reward? That's around 60 AI3 games.

^ You left elements on for 5 hours 25 minutes and 54 seconds!  :o
(yeesh I had nothing better to do)
That's gotta lag your computer a lot

As of now, winning 3 games in Platinum nets you 669  :electrum and score minimum.
Is this not enough of a reward? That's around 60 AI3 games.
This is also very true.
Playing plat, you not only get a very good amount of electrums and possibly an upped rare in 5-10 minute, but also a feeling of achievement (because they are easier than actual FGs in most cases) and you can't get bored because there are 500 decks to get randomly get chosen against :P

i would just be happy to win, i have done about 50 spins and got one card, and than was the wrong quanta. LOL
Err, you mean the card was not of the element you wanted?
