Ok, here are the differences:
Mark Card
- Gain 1 of the corresponding quanta per turn
- If it is the same mark, can be played over your mark and cannot be destroyed
| Mark Card (upgraded)
- Gain 1 of the corresponding quanta when played
- Gain 1 of the corresponding quanta per turn
- Is played apart from your mark, therefore it can be destroyed and is considered a pillar(therefore vulnerable to Tsunami or Quicksand)

Would you upgrade yours?
Normally each card when upgraded is because it results in a more strategic card.
Some people however will choose to stay with the unupgraded version because it will suit their strategy better.
Considering certain examples, you won't have an unupgraded Sundial in a Mono
, but you won't have an upgraded Dissipation Field in a Mono
either. However the upgraded Sundial only costs 2
to draw the card, and no quanta to play.
is relatively easy to get (White Nymph, Luciferase), whereas
is a little trickier. As for Dissipation Field, it absorbs 1 random quanta per point of damage blocked and therefore is perfect for rainbow decks that use Quantum Towers, but not so much for Mono
, since using a Mono
you are essentially gaining X +1 random quanta for each Tower out per turn, and using Quantum Towers you are gaining 3X + 1.
Those 2 cases are basic examples where one may be more strategic to play than the other, but overall the upgrade is stronger.
Where is the improvement in upgrading a Mark Card? Gaining 1 extra quanta when you play it?
