(wanted to put this in events but couldn't)
An intro
As an MTG player, one of the things I've always loved was multiplayer games. In fact, I have an entire deck built simply for the pure joy of a free-for-all six player match. Unfortunately, these things cannot be done in Elements. So here I'm going to try combining my proficiency at RPG leading and elements.
What this is
Triangle of Death is a style of three way magic playing that I thought would be easiest to transpose onto elements. In the game, three players each play, but may only attack one player. E.G.
Player 1 attacks player 2
Player 2 attacks player 3
Player 3 attacks player 1
A lot of strategy is involved, as the person you are fighting is fighting your enemy. It's a great game, it's fun to play, and I think it will work with with elements.
The rules
After lots of thought about nerfing defensive abilities, I've decided on the following. The only player you or your creatures may target is your opponent. Kill spells, devour, all of these things work like you are fighting two people at once. An otyugh of player 1's can eat a creature of player 3's. An explosive gas of player 2's may kill creatures owned by player 1. But note, the actual damage caused by the explosive gas will be directed at player 3 and only player three. In this way, most cards act like normal. Once a player dies, the two remaining players continue fighting like normal.
In summary:
You and your creatures may only target the player "sitting to your right", although you and they can target any creatures or permanents on the field.
All other actions function as normal.
When one player dies, the remaining two fight as normal
How this will work
I will pick three players, somewhat on a first-come-first-serve basis, partly based upon personal preference. This is simply so no one abandons the game while in the middle of playing. You will PM me your deck, which I will keep on file. When the battle begins, opponents will be randomly selected, and I will use a random number generator to PM you the cards you draw. This may take some time. Please be patient. I will also use a random number generator to see what creatures get past a dusk mantle, and if creatures become frozen, using the stats from the wiki. Although I wish you wouldn't, if you choose to use quantum pillars I will also use a random number generator. If you are a player, you will post your status at the end of every post. How much life you have, what creatures are on the field, the mana you have, things like that. For your "turn", post what cards you play, what moves you take, and then calculate how much damage a player takes. If any random numbers are needed to be generated, please inform me as many of them as you can so I can do all that fancy schmancy stuff. I'm not sure this will work, this is a test.
How do I sign up?
Just say you want to play! I'll pick five based upon who posts frequently, who gets on around the same time, things like that. Then, those five will PM me the deck they wish to use. I'll further narrow it down from there. Note that this is a theoretical deck, you may have any cards in it you could get in the trainer. I will be frank, I'm a lazy person, and will select the deck that requires the least random number work on my part. Sorry. If you are picked, your card order will be calculated, your opponent will be assigned, and the opening move will be done.
What are the prizes?
Well, this might be the only time I do this, so you'd get to experience something unique. If this works well, then you'll get to provide feedback as to how it should be changed. Other than that, there is nothing won but bragging rights.
So please, sign up, have a ball, and maybe elements will get to experience something new and awesome. And even if this sucks, we'll at least get a good laugh.
An additional thought: for now, rain of fire and plague will target both player's fields. This is just for the fun of it.
