AI Card Usage Order
Think the AI just glitched, or its really stupid? Play a couple TU's and THEN bless the creature? Use Plague then RoF when the RoF was all that was needed? Well guess what, the AI Usage Order probably just saved your life. Why is that? The AI looks at the cards in their hand from the oldest down to the newest. So why would you need to know that? Well, aside from helping to stop you from spamming the AI improvements thread with a whole bunch of situations that are just the AI Usage Order, when you go into it a little deeper you see how your opponent will react to different situations.

Here is how it goes fully. First any creatures that have the ability lycanthropy, hatch, paradox, devour, or evolve are used. Next your opponents hand is chosen for any possible choices, going from the oldest card, to the newest. From there, Remaining Creature abilities are used. After that, Permanent abilities.
Im stealing this from Smuglapses Game Mechanics thread, slightly edited. (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11691.0.html)

First Black, then Yellow, then Red is played.

Want to know what will happen to the creature you play? The opponent has a lightning in hand, a Flying EE, and an Eternity in the weapon slot. Well, first Lightning is going to be played. If your creature is still alive, prepare to be EE'd After that, you may get lucky and have your creature rewound.

AI Priority P1:Your Creatures

I'm going to use darkness as the example for this section. First off, the opponent DOES NOT take Upgraded/Unupgraded into account. The First thing that the opponent looks at is the Attack of the creature. Following that, if it has an ability, then 3 is instantly added to the appearence of the atk value. So a 10 atk creature with an ability is considered a 13 atk creature.

EX Say you have 4 cards in play, A Vampire, Minor Vampire, Gargoyle (upped), and Gargoyle (unupped). The first creature that will be Targeted is the Upped Gargoyle. In this situation, the first card will be gargoyle (upped) that is targeted. After that is destroyed, you will have Gargoyle (unupped), Minor Vampire, and Vampire.

The next card to be destroyed is going to be the Gargoyle (unupped) Gargoyle has 5 attack, compared to the Vampires 4 Attack. After that, your Vampire, then minor vampire.

AI Priority P2:Your Permanents
Coming Soon (Which of your permanents will the opponent target first)
AI Priority P3:AI Creatures
Coming Soon (Which of its own creatures will the AI target first)
AI Priority P4:AI Permanents
Coming Soon (Which of its own permanents will the AI target first)

1.14 AI.  There are quite a few differences now, but it's a good start.  And, just by the way, it's recommended that you understand a subject before you start a reference topic on it.

The list isnt nearly all inclusive, and is definitely still in the works, however, It is mainly correct. Havent found any blaring flaws referenced yet though. As a general guide so that anyone can understand, I dont see a problem with the post aside from missing the card/creature order that occurs in rare circumstances.

Obvious mistakes in your post?
A)  The AI uses some creature abilities before playing cards
B)  I'm pretty sure your creature targeting section is totally wrong

Heh thats an interesting article. I'm sure a lot of the info was out of date, but I still enjoyed reading it... probably partially because I'm a programming nerd :P.

Interesting article, but based on it, I still cannot explain why a 11-powered Lava Destroyer is bolted rather than a 12-power Crimson Dragon. Maybe the AI checks if I have the earth quanta to grow the golem? I think some of the creatures might have a threat priority setting on them.

This is leaning towards one of the things that I thought may be the issue instead of quanta. Im doing more research to see if attack and defense combined is what is considered first. Also, it seems abilities add 3 to priority. And Quanta seems to be ignored in favor of attack.

According to the article, abilities add 3, so the destroyer would be 14 points while the dragons only 12.

I originally had it a little different (and wrong) so thats where the confusion came from.

Oh I thought he was referring to the old article posted which I had linked to before :P. I suppose it makes sense that he would've been looking at this thread rather than that heh.
