What does nightmare of the darkness element do?

It all goes a bit fast, so I can't always quite capture it.

I see it fills your hand, but only to the maximum. For example, last time I got 4 dark cards. Is that all it does or does something else happen? Because this doesn't really bother me. I can simple discard the cards I don't need and play my own cards.

It fills your opponents hand with the target creature.

Thanks, I did see that.

My question is, why would it be any different than a card that, say, ''changes the background music.''

Since it fills their hand, it prevents them from drawing a card next turn. It has synergy with a bunch of cards.

I wish we could make a poll for the forum asking how many people use this card on a regular basis.

This is a countercard to Fractal and maybe Hourglass, Mindgate. Your opponent gets useless cards on the hand, so he can´t use the space for fractalled creatures (or the use of Hourglass, Mindgate)

Exactly.  Any matchups not involving those cards and it is simply 1 :darkness so that your opponent does not draw next turn.  It really reduces the effectiveness Fractal and Hourglass and is a direct counter to them.

If the opponent has Mindgate and the ability to produce 1 :darkness a turn, they can really screw you over if you have Nightmare: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11309.0.html

And thats why you shouldn't add it into your deck for pvp. ;) Mindgate is more of a counter for nightmare, and since many rainbows are using it, the result is  :o :o :o
