You know, I just realized, after having a similar discussion with my roomy about the game, that there is a perspective about the game that makes this forum work well.
I think of it in terms of toys I had when I was young. They weren't the flashiest of toys, but with a little imagination you could think up a lot of fun things to do with them for many hours. On the other hand, a lot of toys nowadays are very singular in purpose that tend not to shift well into other modes of fun. They sort of have a planned obsolesce in effect.
Elements is like the toys of old. There may not be a lot of cards to work with and new cards don't come out that often, but if take some time to use your imagination you can do a lot with just a little. Look at WAR and WoE and all the little events that creep about the forums. If you apply yourself, you can find there's a lot to do with the game, regardless of the stage you find yourself.
I will concede the point though that a lot of the fun forum stuff that happens is a direct result of the members and their drive to keep the community strong. If it wasn't for the community, it'd be game over once you reached fully upped. So there is a lot to be said for community involvement in keeping the game strong.
In any event, I think people really need to have a clear perspective on what they are trying to do with the game. If you are one that just sits idly by and grinds for cards and score, eventually you'll hit a plateau that requires you to sit and wait for new cards to emerge thereby repeating the process. But if you look at the game as a means to an end, in this case all the fun forum stuff you can be a part of, then the game can have endless fun beyond the limits of just getting score or upped cards. In essence, the game is what you make of it. I just humbly recommend you look at what you can do in a community such as this. I think people will find that involvement will bear juicer fruit than simply grinding for grinding's sake.
