It can happen. But when it happens, you don't need gold anymore. Actually, when you have your first Nymph 6 times, you shouldn't need gold anymore.

Also, the gold you get from selling a Nymph stands in no relation to the gold a Nymphs worth for slightly advanced players. I'd pay 50k for a Nymph or Mark anytime...

I see.  Well, I know that Nymphs are the shiznit.  I also know that in 2.5 months of playing, I've collected only one.  Please forgive me for not understanding the complexities of Nymph ownership.

It is not about the electrum, it is about the card pool. There is a limit to how many cards you can own and still have the game save your progress. If I have a full set of everything, and Zanz releases new cards, I want to buy/earn a set of the new cards. Finding that I will not be able to without breaking up another set because I have a bunch of extra unsellable nymphs would be horrible. We ought to be able to have everything we could use at once, and that requires being able to get rid of surplus cards to make space.

@Pella: Electrum simply becomes useless way faster than Nymphs do. By the way, iirc, a bit less than 1 Nymph/month was the average, so gl with getting your second one soon.

3000, last I heard. But that was one or two years ago. I think it was raised to 3500 recently. May be wrong.

Also, about nymphs -- I have almost over 30, 10 purple nymphs, and in a bit I may have over 12 purple nymphs. And I need a bit of money, since the only upgraded set I have is the Gravity Set. =P

More people sell Nymphs or Marks by accident or due to misinformation than those who actually have 12. Although some people would be disadvantaged if marks and nymphs were un-sellable, more people would benefit.

This. There are a hand full of people who would want to sell a Nymph/Mark (except new players that regret it later on) and hundreds who lost a Nymph/Mark due to it being sellable.
Second, the "disadvantage" for not being able to sell your 13th Nymph (wtf) is ridicoulusly small, the disadvantage for accidentally selling a Nymph/Mark is huge.

Darn, what's wrong if it shows warning, you can just click 2nd time and sell. Plus, i would rather upgrade the 13th.

If you accidentally sell Nymph, Mark or any card you didn't want, simple close the game without clicking Back to Menu button. The game will not save the progress thus you will keep it.

What if you wanted to sell a Nymph/Mark, you just put in your password?  It's roundabout, tedious, and ensures no one accidentally sells anything.
