Server Migration

I posted on Discord and Blab, but I really should bring you all up to speed on what's going on.

We are migrating from our old host, Webfaction, to a new host, DigitalOcean.

First, why are we migrating servers?


• Cost: The base price of Webfaction for our needs is $80 a month, whereas DigitalOcean is generally $48 a month. DigitalOcean also makes it much easier to set up payments to autorun so there's no lapse.
• Control: Webfaction does not provide you with your own server, it is a shared host. Like most shared hosts, you don't have root access, and you can't easily scale. It also made running custom processes a bit trickier.
• Collaboration: It was very hard to work with others on Webfaction as we had to isolate each other to separate home directories with no shared resources. We tried ways to work around this, but none were satisfactory. On DigitalOcean we can do standard users and usergroups and set up permissions however we want.
• Scale: DigitalOcean makes it very easy to separate servers for database vs website, etc. It's also very easy to migrate from a lower powered server to a higher powered one. While this isn't an issue today, if we intend to grow, this is the way forward.
• Security: We have full control of our DigitalOcean server and can patch daily instead of waiting for Webfaction.

I will be updating this as I get things done. Feel free to reply to this thread if you find any bugs or issues.

Really appreciate HTTPS certificate renewal just working for oetg, & HTTP2, & having a test server easily spun up

Bookmarks is also inaccessible via the button, just redirects to main forum page. I can access it in its entirety by adding a new bookmark, however.

I can reproduce. I don't think I've ever used that button... will investigate, appreciate the workaround.

Hmm, I had fixed this for most. e.g. http://elementscommunity.org/forum/general-discussion/im-awesome!-i-have-12-of-every-card!/

I need to figure out why some work and some don't...

It does seem like all future topics created with an apostrophe are fine now. Figuring out which past ones work and which past ones don't will be a bit tricky.
