The culprit knew how to electrocute everyone in the Driver's cart from the outside, but you could say that it was an inside job. Get it? He then forced Marcia to open the door and go in. After she was inside, she was killed by a non-conventional weapon and the culprit left the scene.

Okay, I suppose I may be over-thinking things.

I was going by what the story stated in the opening post, and then trying to figure a line of thought on some of the questions that followed.

I jumped in here because I thought I'd try something simpler than a mafia game, is all.

No inconvenience at all DeathKnyte - if anything, your research has (somewhat?) pointed people in the right direction and also gave this topic some interesting perspectives. That being said... this is far more complicated than a mafia game in my opinion, considering it's much more creative in regards to winning/solving, versus voting and using abilities to win on your 'team'.

When she was in, the culprit killed her from outside of the room with a ranged non-conventional weapon (can be a bow&arrow, a sling, a tazer, a very long non-weapon blunt object, etc.). He then rushily stepped in and closed the door behind him before killing the drivers with the same weapon.

While that might be true, we need to go around this black truth:

The murderer did not place any explosive inside the room.

Marcia was in the same room as the culprit when she was killed.

The murderer hid explosives on something (food tray or cart? person?) that somebody else took into the driver cart.

No one entered the driver's cart with any explosive device (hidden or otherwise).

No one inside the driver's cart would willingly let anyone in who is not part of the train staff. They would also not leave it unlocked accidentally to avoid someone breaking in.

The drivers did not open the door for anyone.

The person who had murdered the three people inside did not have any key on him.

These could mean any of the following:

• They unlocked it purposely (e.g: they wanted to get something from outside), and the murderer happened to be right outside when the door opened
• A train staff (or someone with a conductor key who was not the culprit) opened it from the outside with his/her own conductor key
• The door was never actually opened
• Someone else was already inside and he/she opened the door from the inside to let someone else in

The murders could only occur through the door, the roof panel or through the walls (somehow from the outside).
But let's worry about the first murder for now:

Marcia was already inside the Driver's cart when the first murder occurred.

Marcia was in the same room as the culprit when she was killed.

The murderer was not even inside the driver's cart when the first murder occurred inside there.

This means that if Marcia would have died first, she was in the Driver's cart and the culprit was in the same room. However that's countered by a black truth.
So we now KNOW that one of the drivers died first and not Marcia. However, the murderer was not inside yet and the door couldn't have been opened by Marcia's conductor key. This opens up new questions and possibilities.

Let's clarify things first:

All people in the driver's cart died by accident. The door and the roof panel were only open, because they tried to open them in their last desperate attempts while dying.

One of the drivers or another person who was not Marcia (list all people mentioned in the story by shotgun effect) but was inside the Driver's Cart, died from being poisoned by touching/inhaling/ingesting poison either inside the cart or earlier outside of the cart and not receiving medical help.

All people inside the driver's cart died by either poisoning or an attack through the walls by the help of electricity/shockwaves/high temperature.

There were no accidental deaths.

None of the people you saw in the driver's cart brought anything inside the cart that was considered poisonous. Also, none of the surfaces of the driver's cart was poisoned.

Neither of the drivers left the driver's cart during the story.

Not all deaths inside the driver's cart were killed the same way.

No one was killed from shockwaves or high temperatures.

If someone tried to electrocute people through a metal wall, the attack would affect everyone on the train (regardless of position) equally.

The people inside the driver's cart died from a lack of oxygen.

The ventilation system would detect if the atmosphere inside any cart would reach asphyxia levels and alert everyone on the train. This system never went off.

The system malfunctioned.

The murderer gagged the victims and proceeded to asphyxiate them.
