The DI took his dentures out of his mouth and cracked the glass with them.

There is room directly beneath the bathroom. Something from this room was forced upwards, through the floor of the shower at an angle to smash the glass. Possible explanations include there was a boiler which exploded and some metal came up OR a bullet was fired upwards accidentally or something like this. The DI was then able to escape and repair the damage. The woman was another thief who happened to be have Phonophobia (fear of loud noises) and had a heart attack and died frm the boiler explosion and/or gun being fired. The DI then stole the ring and ran off (the visit to Cuba is optional).

Alternatively

For whatever reason, one pane of glass was shaped weirdly so that ,on a clear day at a certain date and time, the light from the bathroom window would hit the first glass wall, be refracted and bent through the shower to focus exactly on the second glass wall. The heat caused the second glass wall to smash allowing the DI to escape. However, when the glass exploded, the DI was injured at started bleeding. The woman was another thief who had hemophobia (fear of blood) and suffered heart attack at the sight of his injuries. The Di then took the ring and legged it.

Sorry, I've been really busy.

The DI took a tile off the shower floor and found a tunnel. He used a piece of pipe he found there to smash the glass.

The floor of the shower stayed intact.

Ok, for clarification, Repeat this:

From the time you closed the shower, to the time the glass broke, the shower was a perfect 'closed room'. That is, nothing (except the water I guess) could enter or exit the shower during this time.

I don't give out anything for free! Show me your blue truth!
As you wish. There is one hole in the 'closed shower' that you have deliberately kept open, and I will strike there:
Before the events of the story, the DI placed some very small tools inside the water pipe leading to the house. When he was later trapped inside the shower, his tools came out with the running water, and the DI used it to break the door

Before the events of the story, the DI placed some special gel inside the water pipe leading to the house. When he was later trapped inside the shower, the gel came out with the running water, and then solidified. The DI then used the solid gel to break the glass.

Before the events of the story, the DI placed some very small explosives inside the water pipe leading to the house. When he was later trapped inside the shower, the explosives came out with the running water. The DI then used the explosives to blow up the door.

EDIT: And as a special bonus: The woman drank the water and got whatever the DI had placed in it inside her, killing her.

Nothing was placed in the water.

Can we include things like dentures, glass eyes, metal plates inside the body and other prosthetic stuff on the banned list?

However the DI escaped from the shower, he cut himself and started bleeding. The woman was there for whatever reason and she fainted at the sight of blood and hit her head on something. This killed her but didn't leave a trace somehow.

The woman does not faint at the sight of blood.

The DI took his dentures out of his mouth and cracked the glass with them.
Another variation of the removable body part theory.

The DI doesn't have any prosthetic body parts.

The first is answered above.

The glass is normal glass, there are no special tricks in it.

Beware the Darkness.

When you left,  you had the handle pulled by a long chain by accident,  so that broke the glass.

You are an odd guy, you have a shower door AND shower curtains.
The DI uses the rings holding the shower curtains to cut a hole in the glass and breaks through it.
OR
The DI took the bar holding the shower curtains off the wall and used it to smash through the glass.

Or: Something (tools, gel, explosives) came out with the water randomly, and the DI used it to break the door
You only said nothing was put in the water, but what if it just was there?
