Water came out of the shower head, but at such a rate that it would take hours to fill the shower. Whilst you were gone, a truck crashed into the old, weak house and caused a part of the wall inside the shower to fall and break the glass from the inside. The DI regained consciousness and then decided to repair the wall because he's a tad weird and likes DIY. The woman was another thief who tried to steal the ring before the DI found and poisoned her with something from the bathroom (bleach or something). After realizing his crime, the DI then moved the body into the other room, stole the ring and ran away to start a new life in Cuba.

The water from the shower came out at the speed of sound and broke the glass.

It was really cold, so some of the water froze to ice. Using an ice shunk, the DI broke the door and then killed the woman with it.

The shower was set of a drip, but the air inside the shower was also pressurized by sewer gas that seeped into the plumbing as a result of another project you did. This sewer gas pressure broke the glass.

The DI grabbed the shower head and smashed it into the door of the shower, breaking a hole in it. He then escaped out through the broken door.

After regaining consciousness, he held this tooth to the glass and hit it hard, so that the shower glass shattered. (If you've seen Sherlock S2 E3, its like that but with a tooth instead of a diamond). Ok, for clarification, Repeat this:

From the time you closed the shower, to the time the glass broke, the shower was a perfect 'closed room'. That is, nothing (except the water I guess) could enter or exit the shower during this time.
