When you left,  you had the handle pulled by a long chain by accident,  so that broke the glass. 

The DI used the door handle to break the door

It is not possible for the door handle to be removed.

You are an odd guy, you have a shower door AND shower curtains.
The DI uses the rings holding the shower curtains to cut a hole in the glass and breaks through it.
OR
The DI took the bar holding the shower curtains off the wall and used it to smash through the glass.

I like the way you're thinking! But sadly, the shower doesn't have curtains.

Or: Something (tools, gel, explosives) came out with the water randomly, and the DI used it to break the door
You only said nothing was put in the water, but what if it just was there?

There were no objects in the water.

The shower door had a loose screw (or any piece of it), which the DI removed and used to cut through the shower door.

The water cam out of the shower head but at such a rate it would take hours to fill the shower. For whatever reason, a high intensity laser beam shone through the window and through one of the glass walls onto the other glass wall from inside. This caused the second glass wall to shatter. The DI cut himself climbing out of the shower and left a trail of blood throughout the house as he escaped with the ring. The woman just happened to be wondering around when she slipped on some blood and fell. This fall caused her to experience a heart attack and die.

The DI left the shower first through a secret door, got a tool, and then returned to the shower to break the glass dor. He then left through the hole.

The DI took the water hose and broke the wall with it.

The DI bit himself, waited for the blood to coagulate, and then broke the door with the blood chunk. He then killed the woman with it.



Also, a question if you want to answer: The trick the DI used to escape the shower, is this a trick that can be used without preparation in 'normal showers' as well (as long as they are the same design) or is it something specific with this shower/this occasion that makes the trick only be usable there. (like a secret door, things already placed in water, etc.)

I don't know what you mean by water hose. If you mean the showerhead:

The showerhead wasn't moved.

The DI could not have used his blood to smash the shower door.
The woman was not killed by blood in any way.

Also, a question if you want to answer: The trick the DI used to escape the shower, is this a trick that can be used without preparation in 'normal showers' as well (as long as they are the same design) or is it something specific with this shower/this occasion that makes the trick only be usable there. The DI can smash any shower door with his witch powers.

I know what a tap is. People just generally don't have garden hoses in their shower in NZ.
