Catyrael and the Swords continued to appear slightly concerned over the issue at hand.
The Archangel of Justice said with a sigh, "Unfortunately, Emparael represents the authority of Heaven in this case and is permitted to enforce the law upon the mandate granted to him by the Council. However, I firmly believe that though he enforces the Law, he is not upholding Justice, and the difference between the two can be severe, as it is now."
Then in guise of private counsel to his friend, "Go with them presently; I shall ensure that no harm comes to you, for Justice shall support you."
In the meantime, his colleague, the Archangel of War, was haughtily replying to Xanriel's request for Sirenes' accompaniment.
Sneering, he said, "Criminals of your ilk are not granted any requests they do not deserve!"
The Guardians, holding Xanriel bound, prepared to depart for the Celestial Realm, but Catyrael interceded again.
"One moment, Emparael, grant me one moment. You overstep your authority now; have you forgotten that the ultimate discretion for permitting specific individuals access to Heaven or not is a reserve power of the Chief Guardian of the Peace? It is Vaderael's decision, not yours. Thus, what does Vaderael say?"
He turned to regard the Chief Guardian, standing on Emparael's right side.
"Vaderael, you were once a Sword. If you will not grant the request of a wronged Angel for his sake, then do so for me."
Caught between two of the highest Lords of Heaven, Vaderael visibly hesitated, but ultimately relented.
Summoning his full confidence and stature, he regarded his new superior Emparael in the eye and said, "I am inclined, actually, to grant the Singer's request. His friend shall be permitted entry to Heaven."
