ART:
Darkrobe. although better art suggestions would be appreciated
IDEA:
Darkrobe (with input from Djhopper :) and FlareGlutox)
NOTES:
Charon is the ferryman of hades. you were supposed to pay him when you died. the idea of this card is a form of denial where opponents must repay the cost of their creatures if they die. If they cannot afford to repay the full card cost, a relic (the remnants of that creatures soul) is placed in their hand using up card slots with a worthless card. This Card does not stack. (recently moved from pre-smithy)

an example: opponent saves up all their  :entropy quanta. plays a purple dragon while you have Charon's bribe on the field. you then kill said dragon with lightning. their  :entropy quanta pool is drained of of 10  :entropy. if they dont have 10  :entropy but only have 5  :entropy, those 5  :entropy are drained but charon refuses to take their dragon in his boat and the poor dragons lost soul (relic card) is forced into their hand.

suggested card combos:

CB + firestorm :  :death :fire trip to hell
CB + thorncarapace:  :death :life life and death
CB + lightning, CB + otyugh, etc etc

Possibly a 1 turn silence would be more thematically appropriate.

The reason to pay Charon was to ease the passage of the soul into the underworld; if Charon wasn't paid, the soul would be forced to wander for many years along the bottom of the river Styx.   I am not sure how a relic makes sense, but it would make sense for the penalty for not paying to be some sort of delay.

yah so the relic was a suggestion from the pre smithy. if you read the description of the card relic it reads as follows: The remains of what was once a valued creature or artifact. Probably still worth a few coins.

the reason relic was suggested is that it would serve as a symbol of your dead creature's lost spirit wandering back into your hand. making a new card such as (lost soul) is more creative but i didnt see a reason to make a new card just as a placeholder card if relic fit.

and placing a relic in the hand does serve as a delay (if their hand is full) by delaying draws before you can play this useless card.

hope that helps the card make more sense.

hmmm, feels a tad OP since you cant play relic, quanta drain and killing their creatures fast would make this an unfair win

oh wait, you can discard the relics

my bad

I like it! We sure need another hand stuffing effect other than nightmare, and this one is original and has a nice theme. And it's really different from nightmare, though the general purpose is the same.
I also liked the relic thing!

Now that we have it in the Smithy, I notice that you should put in the notes, that this effect doesn't stack. Otherwise you would have to pay for your creatures twice or three, four and up to six times, when they die, if you had more than one Charon's Bribe on the field.

P.S.: Also thanks for giving Djhopper and me credit in the idea section of this card  :)

Changed. although Id like to hear opinion from the community on its balance before I completely rule out something like that. My personal opinion is that as it is now, it would only be very good against opponents who play an expensive creature as soon as they have enough quanta early game. i dont see very much benefit late game when players have had a chance to build up their quanta pools, which means to get the full benefit youd have to increase your chance of pulling it early game by bring more, but that means dead cards in your deck that you cant use.

Lol. it seemed appropriate, while the theme is mine, the actual mechanic came from your brainstorming. made sense to me to give you guys credit.

Nice idea,
maybe you can lower the price a bit since it's not really OP.

But what? Can't you play a relic, oh never tried it because it's just useless   ;)

If I remember well, you give Charon a coin if you want him to mass you pass.

Why not make him pay real electrums instead of quantas? :p
