Using Shard of Patience: Big Bad Physali https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=36592.msg459268#msg459268

*Edit* This post is from when Patience was a SPELL. It is waaaay better now it's a perm ;)

Since getting them, I've been trying my hardest to make earnest use of the Shard of Patience.

The card is under discussion here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,31451.0.html). I do not know if it may yet be revised and given new abilities, but this is it as it stands.

The deck I've been testing (in trainer) is based on Scaredgirl's Got Poison? (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,365.0.html).

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
710 710 710 710 710 710 710 718 718 718 718 718 718 71a 71a 7gl 7gl 7gl 7gl 7gl 7gl 7gn 7gn 7gn 7gn 7gn 7gn 7hi 7hi 7hi 8pp

The deck wins by hurling as much poison at its opponent as possible, Congealing threats to you or your Physalias - whichever is more pertinent - until the poison finishes them off.
What the Shard of Patience does is offer valuable protection to your Physalias so that it may not be necessary to Freeze, say, an Otyugh. A single Shard will also double the extra damage output from the Physalia, and with two Shards, at 6/6, they start looking pretty beastly for little critters.

But I still don't know if the Shard is really that useful.

Opinions please :)

If you were going to make this a cleverer poison deck (with Shields or whatever) do you think there would still be a place for these cards?

And also, does anyone have any other bright ideas for this card? (btw, it works on both burrowed and immortal creatures!)

Basically you took SG's deck (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,365.0.html) and strained the quanta, at least mod it?

...

Lol!

Yes okay that is pretty much precisely what this is. But it wasn't intentional! I was just assessing the value of the SoP in what seemed to me the most basic kind of Poison deck! I meant no disrespect to the deck, or it's creator, and certainly didn't mean to pawn off the idea as my own! =P

Also I was working with a half-upped version of this before I posted it here. Maybe the upped poisons are why the quanta now seems 'strained' or maybe it was just bad deck building. Whatever lol, not the point! =)

Perhaps I should ask Scaredgirl then? Do you think these shards add something good to the deck, or are they just unnecessary complications? Hehe.

You should give credit, but now, the deck is worst, just because quanta is strained and you wont see your Physalias doing much poison.

Totally OFF-Topic question, furballspam.

In furball's defence,

does anyone have any other bright ideas for this card?
I've editted my original post to credit Scaredgirl now.

I think you missed my point Calindu, I am trying to make use of a card that is generally regarded as underpowered, and was merely seeking opinions on the usefulness of the Shard. But thanks for pointing out Scaredgirl's thread, it has actually helped me move on with my ideas. The Shard distracts from the fast-poison idea of Got Poison? In other words, if it can be useful at all, it will have to be in a slower deck. If you are interested, I would appreciate your thoughts on my new build (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,36599.0.html). If not, no worries. Peace =D

You don't really need SoP for ROL/Hope though. Although it would almost double your damage, ROL/Hope doesn't need extra damage. It would probably just take up needed space for fractals.

SoP + Iridium Wardens would be interesting.
