Would you be interested in Cygnia tournaments?

Greetings Elementals,

So as of recently, Cygnia has been reworked to have it's mechanics function like original EtG*, and the core 18 cards from Advent + a few September 2015 cards have now entered the game. (Remember to vote in the Forge to help us bring more cards into the game!)

With the groundwork all set, this leads to the next logical step - how many people here would be interested in Cygnia tournaments? Do you guys feel an award of some kind (i.e. a small electrum code for main EtG or an award icon) would increase interest in these tournaments?

*Note: We will not be adding an Electrum system, Arena, or any additional Elements the Game features under normal circumstances. Cygnia is only meant to replicate EtG's core cards and board mechanics and keep them intact so that people can play card ideas with the EtG system.

That's why Cygnia doesn't use or a bazaar at the moment - if you want to have an actual sense of progression, EtG will be better suited for it. As a reminder, Cygnia is intended to act as an extension to Elements the Game, as opposed to being an independent game like openEtG currently is.
 
Unless a host has the audacity to have a tournament at the exact time as normal Tournaments, I don't see how this would "steal players" . Please clarify.

You said it works completely as Elements now, so I supposed you added literally everythin to it.

Well, just do those tournaments like durin the week or on sunday and it's all fine.

My apologies for misspeaking; to be clear, Cygnia will remain "trainer-style" for the forseeable future unless a blue moon occurs and bunchies rain from the sky.

And yeah, I'm considering Sunday tournaments in the vein of SHUTs (if any older players remember those).

Having PvP will help to see how the meta is being changed by the new cards. I'm in favour of this, but out of time to actually participate.

Also in favor of having these, or perhaps mini Leagues. Participating is a different issue. We'll see

I like this idea.

As a side note, in oEtG we used to do leagues, which really helped with balancing cards.

I'm a little concerned about how much commitment Leagues would require (especially when I can't guarantee awards yet), which is why I started with Tournaments as a suggestion.

@ kirby - Did Leagues there differ from Leagues here in any sense? Knowing that would help a lot; if it works, I might pitch the idea of a mini League system in addition to Tournaments to see what floats better.

It was pretty similar, main difference would probably be that shards/nymphs were more free to use. Of course, with Cygnia's bazaar-like system, I don't see a problem with that.

Hm, okay. With a format like that, a mini-League doesn't seem too hard to set up.

At this point, my sole concern is that without awards there would be considerably less incentive to play these events - if enough people feel strongly about awards as a motivator, I may start asking if EtG Electrum Codes and separate award icons could be used as prizes for these.
