A "creature played" is a creature card that is played from hand.
The first ability is a passive ability.
The second ability is an active ability. It is not removed upon use.

Looks cool.
Aether need some more targatable creatures.
But I honestly don't really like the picture but that's my problem.
It doesn't seem it has much weakness.
Maybe you can make one which does the same with permanents, and one for spells

Name: Zero. If Time is Infinity, and Aether is the opposite of Time, then Aether is nothing (real/physical), or Zero.
Ability 1: The concept of Zero isn't inherently the concept of a creature. As more (real/physical) creatures are played, Zero tends more towards its nature (nothingness), but also becomes better at mimicking (another Aether theme) as your average creature (one with high attack).

It used to cost the same numbers for :aether when he posted.

An easier-to-balance mechanic that I'm thinking about is:

Gains +1/-1 for each creature played (cannot kill Zero).
:aether : Reset - set Zero's ATK and HP to 5 after it attacks.

Obviously, the cost wouldn't be 5 random. Comments?

That was a drastic shift (~3 :aether worth). I would have to say it is more balanced than 5 :aether. However now I have conflicting intuitions about its balance. Time for math.

Fractal:
5|6 :rainbow + 10 :aether|9 :aether + 30 :rainbow|36 :rainbow (Played like Fractal Other not Fractal Aether. Hmm)
42|56 attack with 1-7 hp. Playing a creature effectively kills the weakest. If the strongest is lost to CC it can be replaced by playing a creature.
Yeah it feels cheap now. Based on the strength of my opinions I would guess at a 3 :aether/7 :rainbow casting cost. If you change the ability so it reduces the hp to 0 but does not kill the Zero then the cost should be higher. Maybe even back to 5 :aether/9 :rainbow.

Yup, the change in the active ability is so that Zero isn't completely invincible against non-ability/spell-CC decks.
