I remember Warthog originally had an "increase stats upon unsuccessful attack" (along with momentum) effect, but moo changed it to destroying permanents for the final version.

That's all I could find searching for "unsuccessful attack".

Not at all?^^ Are you planning on delaying your own creatures? You could simply deal 4/4/4/4... dmg, instead you'd deal 0/0/0/7/4/4....

I could only think of one deck that wants to trigger that passive, and that'd be something like the new SoP + Fractal + your card. And because SoP will cost water quantum, that'd probably be hard to build.
Well, maybe just without the fractal then.

Eh, then I think the card text has room for improvement, as if the "full" ATK does stay at 4 as you've implied then by default the attack would revert to 4 at the end of every turn, and thus you would require some card text to state otherwise. What about replacing that statement to "Set to 4 if successful."?

By default, the full attack score does absolutely nothing. Really. The attack reset is purely a function of dive, sky blitz, and steam (which only works one point at a time). If he wants to set current attack = full attack only on a successful attack, there is no reason he can't do that.

Haha. As I explained, by default current attack resets to full attack after each attack, whether successful or not, so full attack is clearly not a place to store the variable "original attack", as that would mean that Temper is not cumulative.

One scenario would be vs Dim shield, if the opponent did not chain another one the following attack would = 7. At that moment the attack is returned to 4.

Seems both whimpy and unoriginal, to be frank.
Don't feel it's good enough as a standalone to Flame Warrior, nor is it as good.
On a different note, perhaps asking napalm if you could revive the idea and we can modify it to better fit current standards?
