Yes, that's a way to look at it. What I was thinking though is, since it's a  :darkness card and all, rather than gaining control, one would succumb to the darkness further, slowly losing control (although that might be a bit more like  :entropy but still). Again, just my two  :electrum

Usually upgraded cards exhibit more control over the element.
Entropy's Pandemonium and Fallen Elf|Druid are good examples of this refinement.

I saw this card and i find it one of the most original concept around.
However, I'm not sure of its power. Doesn't seem OP, but... well, maybe a little? I don't know...
