ART: hawanja http://freakmutantmonster.blogspot.com/2009/02/griffin.html IDEA: moomoose NOTES: using the buzz word avenger before anyone else gets to. the idea is that if the opponent targets one of your creatures, they sustain 5 damage.  if you have multiple griffins, the effect is multiplied.  if you have 3 griffins, and the opponent uses a squid to freeze one of them, the opponent sustains 15 damage.  if the opponent casts rain of fire, they sustains 15 damage for each creature hit by rain of fire (in other words, its a bad idea to cast rain of fire in this situation) SERIES:

Would the effect sparce itself onj to the user? (As in would a Griffin being targeted by a firebolt that doesnt kill it, activate the effect of the same Griffin that was targeted?)
Looks pretty good in general, quite balanced, maybe just lower damage on unuped from 5 to 4.

Not really. 8 for 7attack is already a pretty neat deal, and it grants anti-CC to your entire field.

I think the mechanic is more important here than the stats, and the stats, the attack in particular, is raising the cost a lot.

i can imagine having 3 of them and a field of malignant cells then rain of fire comes down on youre malignant cells would youre griffins still do the 5 dmg?for each malignant cell?

The mechanic is more important than the stats. The stats (with their cost increase) were selected to adjust the casting cost and thus the time and frequency that the card would be in play. This is a useful balancing tool.
