Here's how the ability works:
When played, the Ranger attempts to drain 1 Life quanta.
-If 1 Life quanta is drained:
Ranger gains Shadow automatically.
-If 1 Life quanta is not drained:
Ranger gets " :life Drain". After this ability is triggered, the ranger gains Shadow.
Alternatively, the italicized part can be ignored and Ranger could just be coded to come into play with Drain.

I would not trust Photobucket as a valid source.

Stats and effect look balanced +/-1 quanta.

The effect fits Darkness and also (barely) fits Life. Thus it works as a hybrid card.

Well, if it is a ranger, it should be able to hit things using "wings". Just like an eagle eye can hit past the wings shield.

you could just give it the passive stats of 'ranged'?

It has the same as the EE (ranged weapon) , flying EE has 'airborne' and 'ranged'
If you web it, airborne will leave, but ranged will stay, cause its a bow,
so this one should, and should, have it as well.

meaning the target can hit through wings,
however, if you web for example a pegasus, it looses its airborne and thus cannot hit through wings,
but if you web for example a flying eagle eye, it looses its airborne, but will remain 'ranged' (its a bow, shoots arrows, ya know :P) so can still attack the player, even if it has wings.
