Hey it's me again.
This was a hard section for me to go through, I'm on the border with a lot of these cards.
Remember, just because I didn't vote for a card doesn't mean I think the idea is bad. Usually it means that I think it needs tweaked before moving on (changing cards after they get into the forge gets awkward).
Graviton Hurler: It's a great card and the creator considered balance pretty carefully, but at present it wouldn't contribute much to the game. Would be a good addition later on, once there are more cards that make use of the airborne passive.
Assemblage: Right now I think the art on this card really doesn't fit elements, it looks very high tech and it's carrying a gun. Which is a pity because it's good artwork. The wording also seems unnecessarily confusing. "When assemblage dies, add its attack and hp to another creature" seems like it would work better. Nitpicking, I know, but in a close choice like this one it makes a difference.
Tiger Mount & Trojan Pony: I listed these together because the ideas behind them are so similar. And that's kinda what I think is holding them back. They're splitting the votes between them for all the people who like this general idea. I personally think I like the mechanic for Tiger Mount better, but the name/theme of Trojan Pony better. I kinda want to vote for one of them, but I'm really torn on which.
Focused Gravity: I think it's just slightly OP. The comparison to antimatter is inevitable and valid, but this is a
very cheap card to play.
[and now a brief rant]
Cards like antimatter, oty and (upgraded) Horned Frog are often used for comparison with discussions about balancing, because these are generally the most powerful cards of their type in the game. They represent the major strengths of their respective elements, and giving a card just as strong to every element would unbalance the game.
I can't help but notice that ever since antimatter came out there's been a suggested card in almost every element that is very similar to antimatter in function. Again nothing against any one of these cards, but there's so many of them, and most of them don't balance well in my opinion.
[/rant]
Singularity: The non-upgraded version is really underpowered, there's already a creature ability that does that. The upgraded version could be used to create a
really unfair impenetrable shield
/
deck and would be useful for nothing else outside making that deck. Also see my notes on graviton hurler about many of these cards would only really be interesting additions once more uses of the airborne passive skill are introduced.
*edit* when I described the
/
deck I had not realized that wings had been given a six turn limit, so this deck would balance better than I thought it would (comparable to phase shield). I'd still like to see more uses for the airborne passive before I see this used though.
Burst: Gravity already has one "make rainbows suffer" type spell. Another seems excessive. Especially since this is an even more potent form.
Singularity: A bit too close to black hole. Both in terms of name and function.
Power Shield: Gravity shield turned backward? I still feel like this doesn't quite fit with
although I know the author has debated on what element to put this in. Also seems just slightly OP, needs a little more balancing adjustments.
Dying Star: Creature control and quanta source all in one? Cool. Using permanent control on it sets it off? This is a problem.
None of the abilities on this by themselves are problems, but with all of them together you can just throw in a Pulvy and get control of both permanents and creatures way to easily. I like the concept though.
Small Moon: Way too complicated. I'd need a diagram just to work out how much quanta this would give me each turn. Seems underpowered on top of that, but that may be just because I don't understand it properly.
Red Planet: I don't understand why this card says "Electromagnetic Force:" on it. That doesn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the card. Normally only activated abilities are named.
The balance is difficult to determine because the phrasing "randomly convert some of your quanta" is very vague. Making it indestructible seems sort of arbitrary, but I suppose no less so than for mirror shield or Jade shield.
Again, I know I'm sort of nitpicking, but these are the actual reasons that swayed me away from the card.
In general I like the card and would like to see it move on, but after a minor revision.
All of the others I'm still trying to decide on. I haven't actually voted in this section yet, since I feel this is a very close call. I may even come back and vote for one I listed above.
There are also a couple that I didn't comment on, but probably won't vote for. I didn't comment on them because I can't really put my reasons for not voting for the card into words.
