PSN bow (rock) crushes discord decks (scissors) with it's speed but gets wrapped up by the stall power of phase shield stalls (paper).  Phase shield stall (paper) surrounds and overwhelms PSN bows (rock) with their stall power but get cut up by discord (scissors).  Discord rush (scissors) gets crushed by the speed of PSN bow (rock) but cuts up the quanta phase shield stall (paper).

This trio isn't perfect either.  Discord rush /can/ outspeed PSNbow on a bad hand, and PSNbow can beat down phase shield stalls if they don't draw shields, but I feel like all three of these decks are pretty common in the war.

Pretty simply R/P/S set up.

Rock relies on untargetable creatures for attack and Phase Shields for defense.
Scissors relies on mostly fast and strong damage while ignoring shields.
Paper deals with healing and medium speed damage.

Paper trumps Rock since Rock can't pull off any antimatter since Paper's creatures can't be targeted. But paper loses to Scissors since Paper's shields are useless against all the of Scissors' momentum creatures.

Scissors blows through Paper's Phase Shields. But loses bad to Rock since Rock will turn all of Scissors' damage into healing.

Rock scores against Scissors by antimattering all of his creatures while powering up Rock's own creatures with Chaos Power. But fails against Paper since Rock can't antimatter any creatures.

After testing numerous combination, I have decided to showcase the best example of RPS meta-game in Elements using these 3 decks. First you have a typical fast Mono Earth rush as 'Rock', an orthodox Mono Air stall as 'Paper' and the deck that coined the term 'Charger' decks, Fractal-Charger as 'Scissors'.

Fast rush usually neglect defensive cards with zero or just a little bit of permanent/creature control thrown in to gain the upper hand in the short term. Stall on the other hand will do anything to stop this early rush while pecking away at the opponent little by little thus achieving total domination. Charger deck starts slow but once they get to a point or milestone, they will knock out the opponent before they can react.

Using the examples; Rock, as fast as it may be are unable to get past Wings in the Paper deck and thus rendering their tactic completely useless. Even though they manage to destroy some towers/pendulums, the cheap cost of Wings ensure that Rock wont be able to squeeze through for the kill. With all the might of Wings, unfortunately for the Paper deck, it does nothing to stop the power of momentumed creatures in Scissors. Furthermore, it takes 2 activation from Eagle's Eyes to take down 1 Elite Charger (or 1 activation of Unstable Gasses and 1 activation of Eagle's Eyes for each chargers on the field at the time). Scissors can cut through Paper because the inherent advantage of its creature and also the power of Fractal to create more copies of those creatures. But in order to take full advantage, it needs to build up enough quanta to do so and this is where Rock shine with its Quicksands and creatures with better damage output.

Rock beats scissors because the 12 damage from an adrenaline momentum scorpion + the poison over time is most likely enough to kill scissors before it can get its real damage out and the heals will help it stall until that point is reached. Paper beats rock because purify, + lobo and ice shield will shut it down before it can make a big impact. And Scissors beats paper due to insane amounts of control and high damage.

Counter setup:
Rock focuses almost completely on creature spam; no permanents aside from towers are capable of being destroyed.
Paper focuses on CC and relies heavily on Non-pillar permanents for support/dealing damage; killing off Fireflies in rock shuts it down completely.
Scissors focuses on permanent control while using Jade Shield for damage reduction while also blocking Fire Lance kills.
Rock beats scissors by deck-out if Fireflies don't kill scissors first.
Paper beats rock by damage spam + killing off Fireflies which power Hope
Scissors beats paper by destroying permanents and inflicting damage faster while also being able to survive longer than paper.

Of course, only if played correctly.
Most likely it will be deckout, or there are enought creatures on the field that Scissors can't beat em all. If Rock survives 8 turns, stall will do the rest.

Paper beats Rock.
Deflag the shields, kill annoying creatures and finish him off with pumped Golems or Bolts.

Scissors beats Paper.
Golems shouldn't survive very long. Bolts are useless against the shield and if the creatures can't get enough damage through, it's deckout.

Same vs. same:
All those decks should provide a fun game when played against itself.

Rock vs. Scissors
The Swarm Stall deck has delicious amounts of creature control... which doesn't work on immortalized creatures. Add the fact that the 'Rock' can effective take away their stalling tactics (see Eternity) to make them unable to deck out, or their Shield (which is a MAJOR damage reduction, as Elite Pharaohs/Scarabs only have 3 attack), as well as copying some of their cards (Mind Gate their shards for more healing), etc. Rock effectively breaks the Scissors (The crowd control) with ease, and is fairly defensive in its potential with Phase Shields for Stalling, and immortal creatures against Devour/Rewind.

Scissors vs. Paper
Here, Swarm Stall can either rewind the adrenaline staves to put them back in their place (the weapon slot), OR they can use Scarabs to consume the Staves. Diamond Shield effective blocks a lot of damage from Epinephrine Roots, as Golems are their main damage-dealers. More importantly, against a shield like Spine Carapace (which is considered a pain nonetheless), Swarm Stall can use eternity to rewind wounded Pharaohs to refresh them; Scarabs naturally grow bigger over time by eating each other/the Epinephrine Roots' creatures and 'weapons', so the poison has a smaller effect on them. In any case, Scissors slices paper by using massive amounts of CC and damage that will generally overwhelm Epinephrine Roots' healing potential, and if all creatures are dead, Scissors can bounce a Scarab to prevent deck out against Paper.

Paper vs. Rock
Even if Immaterial Thief can steal away pendulums or mind gate them, they can't generate the :life quanta needed to play Spine Carapace, Heal, or Jade Staves they Adrenaline. If the player using Paper does it correctly, they'll have a protected Spine Carapace that will slowly wither away the Elite Phase Dragons in Rock's deck, which will then also be compensated by massive overhealing Adrenaline-affected Staves. Rock would either lose to Paper by deck out (much more likely), or small minute amounts of damage dealt via the Staves and Golems over time - in other words, Paper smothers Rock by overhealing and being Anti-PC (vs Steal) with Protect Artifact and Flying Weapon.

Scissors vs. Scissors
A tie - unless both players are willing to eat each other's (and their own) Scarabs vs. a Diamond Shield and 3 Shards of Gratitude, it could technically take forever for either person to deck out, making it more of a game of skill and tactical CC techniques more than pure luck.

Paper vs. Paper.
Although it could be said that a coin toss will decide the match, Spine Carapace will effective shut its own Adrenaline Staves down. It would mostly come down to who busted out the first Spine Carapace, and more importantly, how much damage one can deal with the Staves and Golems.

Rock vs. Rock
Another near-perfect draw, depending on each player's skill. With two Mind Gates and at least 6 Steals, both players have the potential of figuring out what to 'take' (Stealing a Phase Shield vs. a Mind Gate, etc.). It'd be quite a challenge to see who would last long enough, especially if both players are copying each other's cards. It could end up being a coin toss, but it could also end with one person dealing over a potential of 100 damage depending on what draws each person has.

Rock vs. Paper
Paper beats rock at the turn it plays wings with a capability of 30 turns stall. 13x6 creatures will wrap rock smoothly.

Paper vs. Scissors
Paper lose at the turn scissors plays gravity shield while scissors's dragons smoothly bypass wings.

Scissors vs. Rock
Rock beats scissors because earth has total of 10x10 attack creatures which ignore the gravity's shield versus gravity's 6x8 attack creatures which have their AP reduced to 5. On every average draw, rock beats scissors.

Rock vs. Rock
Rock vs Rock is a fierce battle which will end really fast.

Rock vs scissors: Rock will bypass scissors's shields with momentum, be immune to CC with a quint and do atleast 24 dmg per turn simply out rushing scissors.

Rock vs paper: paper will earthquake all of rock's pillars and use BH to nutrilize his quantum, while then out damaging rock while it's only attacker will be a 1/1 deja vu.

Paper vs Scissors: scissors will supposidly get out a fire shield quickly and CC all of papers creatures, while protecting its own pillars with EA turning out to win by firebolting.

Rock vs Rock: better starting hand wins

Paper vs paper: more Eq's to nutralize the opponent = win

Scissors vs scissors: It's a basic quantum race

Rock V. Paper:
MS wins in 15 turns, Pulvy wins in 20. Pulvy can't smash MS. 'nuff said.

Paper V. Scissors:
MS deals 7, Stilettos deal 4 and heal 4. With both weapons played at the same time, MS wins in 34 turns, *coughnevercough* and Stiletto wins in 25.

Scissors V. Rock:
Pulvy smashes Stilettos. 24 healing max for Scissors if all smashed immediately, but let's give 'em 2 turns extra. So...32 healing ~ 132 Damage needed to win. (132 Damage needed / 5 Damage dealt = 26.4 Turns) Rounded up = 27 Turns. Slow, but still happens.

Rock V. Rock:
He who hath the first use of Pulvy's ability hath the win. (Unless quanta is an issue.) Overall, it's very much coinflip determined.

Paper V. Paper:
First MS == Winner.

Scissors V. Scissors:
He who loses cointoss, also loses match. This goes nowhere.

Rock vs. Paper
Rock has no way to remove the poison damage, once dealt, so the poison will add up slowly, as the mark will always provide poison, and the lot of different pillars/pendulums will make destroying them even harder. And if you decide to use the bolts to kill the chrysoara's, you will have no way left to make your own kill.

Paper vs. Scissors
Paper has to rely on poison to kill, but Scissors is made to counter poison with lots of purifies, and flayers to take out chrysoara's ability. After a few turn the fractals will provide even more flayers, and building damage that will lead to the kill.

Scissors vs. Rock
Scissors need a lot of quanta and creatures to win, and trident takes out those quantums, after which ice shield makes all creatures even less effective, by reducing half of the damage, and freezing aproximately half of the creatures, so only a quarter of the damage will pass. That should give Rock enough time to build quanta for the final bolt action.

Rock vs. Rock
This will mostly depend on the initial draw. An nice draw contains at least 1 EA, 2 Earth Pendulum, 1 trident, as this allowes a third turn trident, with second turn protected pendulums, and a perfect draw has 4 pendulums, 2 EA and two pillars at the start, drawing a trident.
The strategy lies in deciding when to use earthquake, and on what (pillars/pendulum), and on what to protect.

Paper vs. Paper
This will be decided by the speed of the initial draw, and by the use of purify.
The strategy lies in finding the ideal moment to use purify.

Scissors vs. Scissors
This game will be decided by the use of the dimension shields, the person that uses them most effectively will get the win.

Rock: Shriekers and Nymphs on Crack
- It has Earth nymphs to put the creatures of Scissors into stasis forever, while the shriekers on drug (provided by a green nymph) beats the opponent.
- It lacks any kind of permanent control and anti poison which makes this deck useless vs Paper. Since Rock has weak creatures, Paper's creature control makes short work of them.

Paper: Ethereal Poison
- Plagues and Lightnings let you kill Rock's creatures, while the poisons slowly kill Rock itself. Survive with Dimensional Shield chain.
- Dimensional Shields, weak creature control and poisons have little use against Scissors.

Scissors: Steam and Ash
- The high defense of steam machines and the invincibility of phoenixes defend you from Paper's creature control, while the purifies negate poison. Dimensional shields are no obstacle with those deflags there.
- Deflags are little use against Rock, just like creatures - everything will be petrified without hope. You don't have anything that could protect you from drugged shriekers and nymphs as defense is not your style.

Rock beats scissors:
Rock has momentumed elite chargers which will go straight through aether's shields. It uses shards of gratitude to heal himself, so it can't even be outrushed.

Scissors beats paper:
The amnethyst dragons can't come through aether's shields (no damage dealt), and antimatter cant target dragons.

Paper beats rock:
The amnethyst dragons deal more damage than the shards can heal, and the chargers/dragons can be antimattered so rock will heal paper for more damage than he can possibly deal. The demons can also paradox the chargers.

I would be disappointed to see #1 in a pvp tournament.  If two people choose paper, then it is a coin flip, and the whole tournament will be based on who get the coin to flip for them.

if it wasnt for a future PvP tournament, i would've root for #1 eventhough i have my own submission up there
its just so damn obvious but nobody thought of actually doing it, kudos to QuantumT
but since this is for a future tourney, it would be very boring if #1 did win

QuantumT's is purely ingenious... but will make for one lousy tournament. For that reason, I voted for another one just in case he's DQ's for causing excessive boredome to all tourney goers.

QuantumT's may be "boring" but it is almost certainly the most "reliable" r-p-s in the comp. I'd say you could play hundreds of games between r/p, p/s, or s/r and they would turn out the same every time :P.
Edit: After a bit of looking/calculating, the only one that I would think looking at them that would be possible to be diff is scissors vs paper if it didnt deal 100 damage. However with a bit of quick math even in the worst possible draw for that deck, it could still deal 100 damage before decking out, so yeah I'd say its literally impossible for rock to lose to scissors, scissors to lose to paper, or paper to lose to rock :P.

I pretty much agree with this. Due entirely to the fact that it'll be in a tournament, I voted for three different decks. Sorry Quantum :-X

I would not want to participate in a tourney that involved QuantumT's decks, and I hope it will not make it to a tourney for that reason D:

And of course, because I want my exciting decks that are based on war decks, what the entire competition was based on, to win :) I don't see QuantumT's decks used in war now? ;)

I don't really see the problem. I guess it just seems appropriate to me that the tournament for an RPS competition would be very RPS.
the thing that irks me the most is that i need to upgrade 6 friggin mirror shield (and 2 hope) for the tourney

That was done to make the reliability 100%.
