This seems possible to host. I think the twelve elemental masters would be the best subject for this competition.

I can't help but feel it may be time for the next CDW?  At least after War, that is.

No need to rush them.

Card Design Wars tend to require a lot more planning than the average Competition; as Kuro (CDW's usual host) has retired from CO duty and mesa is leading Team Light in War this competition might not happen any time soon.

ART ATTACK!
A 2 part Card Design competition, Card Artists will first submit pieces of art, 512x512 pixels portraying possible new cards for Elements the Game. A maximum of 2 pieces per Artist, and art must all be original and appropriate pieces.

The pieces of art are then voted on based on the most aesthetic appeal and best technique.

Top 5 pieces of art (based on number of votes primarily, and secondly on chronology of submission) are then considered as inspirations for Card Designers with which Designers will design a maximum of 2 ideas per Designer, being able to use each piece of art only once! All designs are then judged on the thematic and elemental appropriateness of mechanics, on balance, and most importantly on innovation.

Card Ideas are then voted on. The winners of the event are both the Card Artist and Designer of the winning idea. They each win a standard size(18x18) trophy icon. If the winning Card Artist is also the winning Card Designer, they win a large size(32x32) trophy icon.

Thoughts? Does it seem too similar to other competitions?

Back the very old pre-forum jump days there was a 'Make Art for New ETG Cards' Competition hosted by Scaredgirl, which had a similar idea as the first half of this competition. The second half is essentially Epic 3-Card Design's format with more streamlined rules.

As this would be a rehash of two already hosted competitions (and one already has their format set up), this would be definitely hostable. The only thing I am concerned about is if enough artists will participate.

Card Design Extraveganza

Similar to epic 3 card design but includes an art and backstory submission phase.

Round 1) Art Phase.
-Competitors submit card art ideas under 3 categories
--Spells
--Permanents
--Creatures
The top 2 winners for each category (6 images total) become the images used in round 2

Round 2) Design Phase
-Competitors submit 1 card for each of the 3 phases using one of the 2 available art images from that phase
The winning card for each category goes on to be the card used in round 3
--Judging should be based on (maybe use a 1-5 scale for each and then add all together):
---1) Thematic connection between mechanic and art
---2) Originality
---3) Balance
---4) Overall impression

Round 3) Backstory and fortune phase
-Competitors choose their favorite winning card from round 2 and submit
--A backstory of 500 lines or fewer
--A card fortune to match the backstory
The top 3 winners are picked and sent to the all around phase

Round 4) All around
The all around grand champion card is selected.

This isn't a new idea, but how about revisiting C-C-C-Combo Maker!, a very fun (at least, I thought it was), two-person card designing event that took place August 11, 2011, which is oddly enough ten days after I joined and the first competition I was in.

Anyways, it's just a thought. It may have been revisited without my knowledge, as I haven't really started paying attention to Competitions until very recently, but yeah.

Here's a stupid idea I got, thought I might as well share it :
IT'S THE CRISIS !
Even False-Gods undergo it, and it's time for them to move forward and change job.

Every competitor is to create the (fictive) resume of a False God.
Voting should take into account, along with standard resume criteria, how well it fits the gods and how funny the result is.
... I think submissions should probably be images or perhaps links to pdf files, as texts might lose formatting otherwise.

Card Art Stocking Stuffers
Create new artwork for an Existing ETG card using only Images from a royalty free stock image site or image commons
(e.g. sxc.hu and wikipedia )

Two sub categories:
Scavenger Hunt: Only unmodified art submissions allowed
Touch Up masters: Only modified / photo touchupped art submissions allowed.

ETG Anthem Card Creation
Constents create and submit and ETG card inspired / based upon their top favorite song of all time.

The player should include in the notes:
1) The name of the song they picked
2) How the card is connected to that song

NPC Creation / Deck Conversion Competion

Competitors would take their favorite deck creation or convert an existing deck idea into an NPC that could be implemented for the elements 1.4 bestiary:

Submissions would need to include everything required to create the NPC in the bestiary app listed above:

• Name
• Mark & Icon; (icon is picked from the existing unupgraded cards)
• NPC stats: HP (5-900), Mark Multiplier (x1-x5), Draw Multiplier (x1-x3)
  
• Description / story / lore; (500 characters maximum)
• Deck code & deck image; (be sure to include a link if you use an existing deck idea)
