Make a Magazine!

Rules of the competition:

1. Make a catchy, appealing Elements magazine that, of course, relates to Elements.  The
submission must look like the cover of a magazine.
2. The image must be 400 x 600 exactly.  Only one submission allowed.  The
image size cannot be adjusted using the forum code (the image must be
adjusted using an image editor, like Pixlr (http://www.pixlr.com)).
3. The image must be 100% your own work.  The only exception to this is using art from Elements.
4. Have no idea what I'm talking about?  Look at your local magazine rack and read
some of the headlines, they are actually quite humorous.
5. The winner of this competition gets a super cool icon! 
6. Everybody is subject to the advertisement rules explained in this thread (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16251.0.html).

Credit for this competition idea, or at least the person that made everybody think of this, is cjjkrenzbgt.

I had lots of fun building this cover. I may still change some titles, when I get some more inspiration. I'm open to suggestions too

I actually wanted to include two more jokes in there, but I didn't because it isn't actually a submission. 

I'm sure we will see far, far more humorous/amazing submissions.

Gah. I made a magazine cover in my Graphics class, and it was a pain in the @$$. I'm supposed to be good at computer graphics, but layout design isn't my forte. I may or may not skip this one, but I most likely will.

This competition idea is pretty awesome. Only problem is that I think producing that cover might be too technical for many which will lead to less participants and lower quality of finished work.

It would be awesome to get covers that actually looked like magazine covers, so I went to see what the internet has to offer.

I haven't tested this myself, but after a quick look, it looks pretty good. Basically you pick your own magazine template, add a picture, and can change all the texts.


If we are going to have this competition some time in the future, might I suggest that someone made a "Elements Magazine" template using Pixlr.com. This would help those non-technical people to get their ideas submitted.

Aw. I was making the cover in a normal editor without minding the size. Then I went here and when I was about to put my magazine in I noticed.. "exactly 400x600". And then I went to Pixlr, made it 400x600, but the image just.. meh, then. I'll probably try to make a better one 400x600 later.

If we are going to have this competition some time in the future, might I suggest that someone made a "Elements Magazine" template using Pixlr.com. This would help those non-technical people to get their ideas submitted.

If this competition is a hit, and I think it will be, then we can do it again later in a more organized fashion.  The only downside to using a template is that it limits the creativity of some of the more artsy members participating, assuming, of course, that they had to use the template with no option of making their own from scratch.
