This modification raises the power of Lycanthrope and Werewolf because it's harder to get it (it needs another card) and harder to keep (powerup it's vulnerable to permanent control).
But this uncertainty is more Entropy fitted, in my opinion.

NOTES: How do we indirectly buff Trident and make Earthquake less blatantly OP at the same time? We change Earthquake's effect! (Note that this DOES NOT CHANGE the way Trident's Tsunami ability works -- it will still do what it normally does!)

Now, Earthquake isn't a dead card against Immolation-based decks, and it's harder to get an outright pillar/pend lock without using Trident. On the flip side, the creature damage helps the Earthquake user stall out a bit more in the early game, and gives the card an actual use in the mid- to late-game.

Note that both effects must be able to happen in order for the card to be played, so if your opponent is playing a pillarless deck, then you'll need to sacrifice one of your own Pillars or Pends in order to activate the mass-CC effect.

imagine upgraded environment... AW and poseidon and whatever to generate :earth..
the metagame is heavily focused on non airborne.. (except phoenix), and with this devastating ability... yeah.... you get the point...

NOTES: A simple rework of Trident that can backfire on you if not used properly. Since it doesn't damage Water creatures it makes a strong mono-water card for use and can also create a creature lockdown with help from Flooding. Alternatively, you can use Aflatoxin to create Malignant Cells and kill them on purpose to power your Bonewall.

Changing Earthquake doesn't change Trident, as the two would have completely different abilities. Earthquake gets this changed effect, and Trident keeps its standard Tsunami ("destroy up to 3 Pillars/Pends in target cluster") effect.
