1)Keep it Short and Simple
2)More options -> more diverse game
3)Less hidden information -> easier on newbs

Saying nightfall is not perfect does not mean that we should avoid perfection.
(Nightfall does not stack and it would be easier on newbs if they had some way of knowing beforehand.)

On the thematic note of choosing an element, you could maybe change the cost to and title to Harvest or something.
