ART: - IDEA: Terran 3 NOTES: The unupgraded version of this card allows you to burn away the opposing player's quanta in a quick burst, removing their ability to play expensive cards. To decide when this spell should be cast is the main problem, when you have to decide whether to risk casting it too early and letting your opponent regain the quanta needed for a spell, or wait too long until your opponent has used up the quanta. The upgraded spell is slower at eating away quanta, but casting it will neutralize the quanta from your opponent's mark for a few turns where you can try to regain the upper hand. The "simmer" effect cannot be stacked, and happens immediately after your opponent draws a card during their turn. Since marks are usually chosen to fuel cheap cards and abilities in duo-decks or trios, or to provide quanta for the backbone of rainbows, this card serves as denial. SERIES: -

I suppose it would consume 8 and 2 respectively.

That's true, but for Chroma, you'd have a harder time getting the quanta you require, maybe. I'll wait for some other opinions first.

Fun card. I like it a lot. I could see a use for this even if it might be slightly op un upped.

This card seems really situational for me. Like discord it hurts monos the most, while it can be just a minor inconvenience to a duo that uses a mark and a different pillar. For a deck using a mark this would be on par with blackhole, so it also counters this type of rainbow deck (which is still just theoretical). It might be balanced, but like thigs like Holy Light it's the most useful when you know what you'll be up against.

I don't think it would be as strong as BH against -marked Rainbows, since it only eats up 8 random quanta. And I would have thought it as more than an inconvenience to a duo with only its mark for the secondary element, since this card completely removes that element from play.

You need to keep playing simmer in the duo case. Having one or two devourers out would do worse. The BH comment is assuming 1 = 3 , so it would be 24.

An advantage this has over discord and devourers against decks using one element off mark is that novas don't mitigate the effect, so countering it is tricky. There is always sanctuary though.

I agree on the point about Devourers. Still, this card isn't susceptible to CC since it's a spell, so I'd think it fulfills a viable niche in the game.

I guess as that 24 quanta for chroma would be a bit op (since this card is already strong against monos) we should stick with 8 quanta. that would make a bit more sence too. And as it is now, I think the unupped one is far better then the upped one, or not...?

As much as against ghostmare. You have explosions to blow some sanctuaries away, just as ghostmare has steals.

For 24 quanta thing. As it is now it hurts SNbows the most. Novabows and bows focused in QT are not heavily affected (the increase in quanta may even be a double edged sword). The question is if it should hurt Chromabows as much as SNbows or not. It's not a generic counter against rainbows like BH after all.
